I really didn't even see what it had to do with technology and how it hurts us. All they did was kidnap someone important and force someone to do something horribly embarrassing to get her back. Technology was a small part of it but not vital.
Technology was the theme of the entire episode.
It shows how things can escalate so quickly on social media and can cause a mass group to not understand the severity of a situation until they're all watching a guy frick a pig and it becomes reality. It shows the disconnect technology can cause among society and the distractions. It's spot on really. Probably the weakest episode all and all but still portrayed the message very well.
Without technology. The kidnappers plan doesn't exist. Social media did all of his leg work in meeting his demands.

Skip to season 3, then go back. The 1st two season are really depressing.
