Finally bought the National and the Black Keys. Late to the party, but... totally awesome. The National are a great band.

Good to see this thread still kicking.

I have been listening to The Monitor a lot recently. Awesome album and it is challenging High Violet for my number 1 spot.

Also really digging the new Hold Steady. After this onslaught of new music, I need to go back and get some of their older albums that I don’t have, especially Seperation Sunday from what I hear.

Can't wait for the new Wolf Parade later this month. I've listened to a few of the new songs and they sound really good. Spencer Krug may be my favorite current songwriter.

The Hold Steady is one of my three favorite bands. Seperation Sunday is my favorite, but I'll succumb to pressure and call Boys and Girls in America a stone-cold classic. The album misses the piano parts, but it is still an amazing work.

And I still think The Monitor might be the best album of the year not by the New Pornographers. blew my doors off.

Sorry. This music of today just sucks to me. TO ME< I said...not knocking y'all...to each his own, but I am just bummed that I cannot find anything worth liking. I have been on a big classic rock kick as of late - listening to a lot of Atomic Rooster, Bloodrock, Grand Funk RR, and Hendrix. Oh well.

Psces -- there's a lot of great stuff just under the mainstream. It's like rock n roll has gone back to being counterculture. It's sort of awesome. and I was a huge proponent that 2009 sucked balls.

Though you are right when you say there are no good funk bands. White people should never play funk music. Ever.

I tried to argue this for a while, but seeing what 2010 has given us, I guess your right.
I'm still not saying it suck balls, bc there were about 5 CDs I became obsessed with, it's just not twenty ten.

I got the Dr. Dog album but haven't listened to it yet. I also need to pick up the new Hold Steady, I'm a pretty big fan.

I'm also a huge fan of the Keys new album, my top track is Everlasting Light. The Monitor kicks arse, and there may not be a better intro track than A More Perfect Union.

I don't know what the consensus is, but the new LCD album is tops for me, without a doubt.

Other albums that have seen heavy rotation in my ears: Sleigh Bells- Treats, Fang Island, Free Energy, The Morning Benders.

No talk of the new MGMT album- Congratulations on this thread? First listen I hated it but it has definitely grown on me.
Really like the new LCD soundsystem cd.
Have not seen any mention of the Broken Bells cd- check it out.
Enjoyed the new Spoon and Gorrillaz cd as well this yr.
Really just started listening to The National- and like it, and I guess I need to check Dr. Dog out.
The new deadweather cd is good as well. Damn so much good music out right now.

The new MGMT is hit or miss for me. I've listened to it a few times and the only tracks I consistently like are Is it working and Brian Eno

This shite is good. Have it on at work, nice stuff. Better than Furr, as I wasn't a huge fan of that album.

Yeah this was the first time I've listened to them. I really like it. That and the LCD Soundsystem. They have some really good listens up right now.
Reading the new Spin last night and they gave LCD's new album the highest review out of all these releases we've been talking about. M.I.A. got a perfect rating I think.

I can't explain how pumped I was for this album. But I heard so much crap about it after it came out that I didn't even download it. I still plan on giving it a try, just not in a hurry to.

I honestly despise Broken Bells. Seen 'em twice now and they are possibly the least engaging live act I've ever seen. Their album is a perfect summary of the Austin music scene, and not in a good way.

LCD Soundsystem is great, though. and to whoever mentioned Free Energy -- that album is a flat out blast. Just a lot of fun.

Baloo, did you know that James Murphy(LCD Soundsystem) produced the Free Energy album?
