1980s TV Shows are awesome. Why don't they make them like they use to?

Watching episodes of CHiPs right now.
Why dont they make TV shows like these anymore?
Example:
CHips
Dallas
Air Wolf
Fall Guy
It seem like all you see is talk shows anymore

The 80s and 90s are a blur to me. Worked to hard and long hours to watch TV or see movies unless it was at home on VHS with the wife and babies.

I never watched TV until I retired the first time ..... well, wait. First TV series I ever watched and got hung up on was The Sopranos.

True!

NCIS and murder shows are the only ones that come on?

What does that have to do with TV shows in the 80s?

They do make shows like that. They’re on CBS every night.

Demographics man. These shows aren't diverse enough.

And if they made these shows now, we would all talk about how bad they are.

Anyone remember The Golden Monkey.

I remember watching it and thinking it was a cool show.

There was a couple pilots, a plane, a dog, and most likely a hot chick. That’s about all I remember about it.

Can you imagine the social media reaction to some of the cheesy plot twists of Dallas?

Tales of the Golden Monkey

Loved it as a kid. Recently watched some clips of it. Rough around the edges.

And Chips and The Fall Guy. I loved all of those shows when I was a kid, too, but they weren’t that good. TV is way better now than it was then.

I associate Chips with a 70's show, basically had a porn song intro and Ponch was always pulling hot chicks over just to get their number.

Chips must've been a good show. I had a Chips motorized kids motorcycle. It went about a quarter of a mile an hour.

Plus, the show revolved around making CHP's the good guys. The guys who just write the general public speeding tickets and fellow Cops (CHPs don't give a shite who is speeding.)

But Chips always had Ponch and John doing shite CHPs would never do, saving lives, solving crimes, after they gave you a ticket for speeding.

It was a strange hit TV show. Lets make a show about two guys who's job it is to just cruise the freeways in L.A. and write speeding tickets.

Not saying I didn't love it, they made it work despite the premise. But I was just a kid.

I think what you're saying is the 80's occupy that middle ground of what we don't really have right now.

We have super serious highly stylized TV shows or stupid devolving TV shows like Two Broke Girls.

They tried to bring back Dallas a couple of years ago. It was awful and after Larry Hagman died it was just pointless.

Nostalgia has gotten the best of you.

1.) pretty much all those shows you listed have been recreated at some point the past 40 years

2.) the quality of TV shows since 2000 when the golden age started is vastly superior to any era of TV we’ve had

Unless you’re under the impression that only local channel TV shows count

And like most remakes, they sucked royally.
