The problem is the best shot of the movie, the scene where he is running perpendicular to the charging soldiers with the explosions was already spammed all over the marketing and ads for the film, so I already knew it was coming when he got out of the trench.
Yeah, that was a mistake.
Still, watching that scene in the theatre with the score kicking was pretty powerful.

Enjoyed it more than Dunkirk.
Yep. 4K was spectacular.

It was way better than Dunkirk.
Dunkirk was basically guys just standing around waiting to be rescued.

Just watched it last night. This movie kicked Dunkirks arse. The cinematography was mesmerizing from the start. Their ability to make the whole movie look like two long tracking shots was incredible. Also hats off for the set design for the trenches and no mans land

I also watched it last night. Thought it was incredible. To each their own, but the cinematography was elite and I felt the dread of No Man’s Land. Didn’t see the stabbing scene coming at all.

But, but, but all that shite was made up.
Tolkien's life experiences weren't. He fought in the trenches in WW1. I liked both movies. Gave viewers a look at what it was like, much like Saving Private Ryan did for WW2. But I had minor issues with 1917. It was slow, at times. And it was unrealistic, in the most basic of ways, ( soldiers running down the middle of the road while in enemy territory, making themselves clear and easy shots for any sniper. )
But I digress.
