1899 Discussion Thread (New Show on Netflix from the Creators of Dark) - SPOILERS!

Just watched the first episode and I'm pretty psyched. A few thoughts:
1. The opening title sequence is cool, but the song they picked isn't nearly as good as "Goodbye" by Apparat for the opening sequence of Dark.
2. I really enjoyed how mindbending Dark was, and it seems like 1899 will be just as strange and (maybe) confusing. In the first episode they introduce a ton of different little mysteries outside of the overarching disappearance of the Prometheus.
3. I had a lot of fun trying to find all the different references to triangles/pyramids throughout this episode. They're everywher, even Clémence’s earrings are triangles.
4. I really hope at some point we wind up at the mansion in the middle of the mountains. They flashed to it near the beginning of the episode and it looked really cool.
5. The names of the ships, Kerberos and Prometheus, are definitely a hint at what's to come. Will the passengers/crew of the Kerberos (or Cerberus) be ushering the souls of the Prometheus crew/passengers to the afterlife/Hell?
Only 8 episodes in the season, so definitely going to binge the rest this weekend!

What language is this one?

Primarily English, but the ship is full of people from different countries and they mostly speak in their native languages. Although, it looked like there was an English Dub option when I first started the episode in case you don't want subtitles.

i wanna like this show, but its alot weirder and cringy compared to Dark. the gay characters and the gays scenes are totally unnecessary and over the top

That’s enough to count me out.

Made it to ep 7. What I’ve gathered so far, daddy bad. Otherwise, I have no idea what is going on, just as I felt with the first season of Dark. Sometimes I have to stand up and breathe. The darkness, cramped environments and somber ambience causes my claustrophobia to kick in. Great show so far.

Creepy first episode.

Watched eps 7&8. Brain exploded. Now I have to wait to learn who’s good or who’s bad and WTF with that final scene. Ha, can I trust that anything is real? Ole Jar Jar Abrams could learn to do a proper mystery box from these people.

I just finished too. Wtf is right. I feel like this 1st season and season 1 of GOT House of Dragons are the same in that they’re kind of prequel to the real show. Not in a bad way. I enjoyed both but now we have to wait awhile for the next seasons.

I've only watched about an episode and half so far. I was getting Solaris vibes from the captain's scenes. Anyone else get that feeling?

Seriously, was definitely not expecting that!
Why not just add another layer of insanity right at the end?

Just finished. Wow...one of the best shows I've seen in a while. Between this, HOTD and Severance it's been a heck of year. The ending was amazing, now we probably got to wait 2 years till season 2.

Definitely was not on my bingo card either. While not "fully" as confusing as Dark was, I'm interested to see where it goes.

I was poking around online and the general consensus seems to be that the characters are now in a new simulation, now operated by Cirian.
Anyone think the spaceship is reality rather than a new simulation for them to escape?

Just finished last episode. Dark is one of my all time favorites and this is almost as good. The creator (no pun intended) of this and dark is knocking it out of the park. I love these types of mind bending shows.

I don't think I've ever said wtf so much during a show. I enjoyed it though. I loved the classic rock songs at the end of every episode. Totally didn't see the ending coming.

The end made it worth the watch. The series is weird as heck but keeps you interested
