Guess not... thought that rookies got a 4 year deal with a 5th year option?

Not familiar with the concept of Restricted Free Agency? Or Bird Rights and a player coming off a rookie deal wanting to get paid big?

There's restricted FA, QO's, not to mention the vast difference in salaries, and getting to a 3rd contract quicker.

Name all of the players that a team wanted to retain after a rookie contract that didn't re-sign and instead took the QO? It virtually never, EVER happens. And there are many reasons for it.

The only guy I can think of off hand is Porzingis.

The reality is the team will have him for about 7 years before it is make or break time. That's just how the NBA works.

So back to what I said. He could be out in 4 if he wanted, right? Or 5?

Sigh. Believe whatever you want. That isn’t happening.

And the answer is no he can’t be out after 4 years.
