the simple fact is that three 5A teams shouldn't be in the playoffs bc they haven't acted sportsmanlike the entire season.
I agree with this, and I'm certainly not going to knight for Zachary as if they did nothing wrong. But no one can, with a straight face, argue that TCHS should be in the playoffs but Zachary should not. And that's really what this appeal/lawyering up process comes down to. If TCHS was denied their appeal, and ZHS was denied their appeal, I think ZHS stands pat and takes it.

The only time I have seen Zachary in person was at the state tourney last year, and they act like douches....from the coach to the players on down to the students that were there. They were very disrespectful to say the least. Since the LHSAA let them back in (and I believe both they and TCHS should have been banned) I pray they don't get back to Turchin, I don't want to deal with them again.

I've never seen Zachary play in person but I've heard from more than one person that I absolutely trust that this is standard operating procedure with their program. It if fact took both of them by surprise in it's severity and brazeness.
And once again authority caves to the spoiled, entitled athlete/coach/parent and there is no accountability for flaunting sportsmanship. None. It's very disappointing.
If you want to throw TCHS in the same boat and say you can't re-instate one without the other, hell I'm good with that too. Keep 'em both banned.
From what I hear, I don't think it happens if TCHS plays any other team in the state, but then again from what I hear many other teams were subjected to the same dispicable, thuggish, juvenile behaviour from Zachary and didn't succumb so yeah....ban 'em both.
Just quit caving to this lowest common denominator.

I agree rmc......letting TC back in started this appeal crap. They both should have stayed out and maybe a lesson would have been learned here.

You sound like the Dallas Carter coach in Friday Night Lights. When his kids are playing dirty it's, "Let the kids play". Same situation here.

Denham Springs-Walker baseball fight a few years ago, have you you forgetten? Maybe you should make sure your closet is clean before you try and clean someone else's.

Well first....my kid wasn't playing HS ball then
And secondly, no parents came on the field
And thirdly, I would have had NO problems with both teams being suspended from playing in playoffs
Soooooo.......what cha got now? I'm not a homer when it comes to bad sportsmanship and fighting. My son would never play for ZHS.....and he is good enough (if he wanted to).

Maybe your pitchers should throw more strikes. Since you know each of them have their own bat flip i take it you walked the whole team?
It is quite evident your opinion of ZHS. However, i think everyone would agree that if one goes out they both should be out. It didn't happen that way.
Good Luck to all in the playoffs! It looks as though 4-5a does not play each other until the sate tournament. Good louck to all and i hope 4-5a can represent half the field at Turchin.

OK, I've seen plenty of excuses on here to defend brawling and fighting. I really don't care, the bottom line should be, you fight and you pay the price. It's like no-fault insurance. This way, we don't need a hearing. This is not the major leagues.
Are there teams that play dirty? There are. Are their teams with no class? There are. Are there teams that want to imtimidate with their actions? There are.
But things need to be sorted out by the umpire, not with fists. If you get spiked, then take it up with the umpire. If the umpire doesn't do his job, then take it up with a higher authority.
But once fists start flying - everyone goes, and if it is more than 1 player on one team involved, it becomes a team incident and a collective price needs to be paid - no matter who started it.
The thing people need to understand, is that some people will never have class. But players with no class can be neutralized by coaches who won't put up with it. So any classless actions a player takes is validated by the coaching staff.
As per the unique bat flip example, I so laugh at that. There's no rule against it I guess, but there's no rule against looking like an idiot either. By that I mean, try showing up a pitcher in the MLB and very soon you will get a heater right in the noggin. In HS, it's a form of sanctioned bullying on the field, but most of those players won't get to the majors anyway.
My advice, act like you've been there. Once you start acting like a clown, then it stays with you and maybe one day you'll regret it when you meet up with someone a little tougher than you. Great players play with class.
But by essentially sanctioning brawling, one day someone is going to be very rich, when a coach or player is brought to civil court for battery and there won't be a special committee.
Maybe you can show the jury your unique bat flip and sway them to let you off......

Pretty much how they beat us....never denied that. Even posted as much in another thread.

Said this in an earlier topic as well......
My point has always been ZHS plays the game to intimidate and act like asses doing it. Punishment should have stood for BOTH teams...too bad it didn't.

Even though the day did count as an unexcused absence as per state rules, teachers allowed student to makeup the missed work. My child, who plays on the JV team missed that day. I didn't quite understand what was going on. Had to find out second hand. I thought that the team was going to appeal the decision on that Friday and that it was a team event. I don't agree with the appeal. I think the protest by parents and students was handled wrong. The simple fact that the team skip school should be enough for the LHSAA to stand by their decision. It states in the LHSAA, that they don't want to interfere with the students learning environment. In other words school comes first. Yet the LHSAA rewarded the students of Zachary for the inappropriate behavior. It was quite sickening to see the parents come together and act like their kids did nothing wrong. I wish you could see the emails sent around.
