so how many years qualify for your standards? 4.43 was my best time ever. Who gives a shite. The thread is best time ever. 4.45 was my consistent time. Is that good enough for you? Or should I just say a 4.9 to satisfy your mouth?

Black said yeah, he ran a 4.45 but blew his knee out right when he was starting to get PT.

He said his height was holding him back early in his career there.

Thank you. I'm not mad cuz. It just struck a nerve man. I'm not a trash talker. To work so hard to get to a place and then have it shattered. Then a clown gets on here and says what he says just rubbed me the wrong way... Thanks LSUAlum2001 for putting that out....

For what ? Because someone posts that he facebooked someone who confirmed a 40 time from 15 years ago ?

You didn't see that I chatted with his head coach, who I know personally and he laughed ?

Honestly, I will probably a good number of my times from running years down the road, but running is my sport.

Since most of these numbers are hand times, then they are probably somewhat realistic. A 4.6 hand time is considered to be roughly a 4.84, which could be doable if you are probably slightly faster than average. Also, they were probably timed by coaches who stopped the watch a tad early to boost their kids' confidences.

Exactly. All of these cats reporting times to the 1/100th are just clowning. The only way to get a time that precise is to use FAT. I am finding it very unlikely that so many of these guys were automatically timed for the 40y when automatic timing is still not used at all high school track meets.

For those wondering, here is the appropriate way to deal with times from a stopwatch held by your coach: everything gets rounded up. 4.51 goes to 4.6, 4.54 goes to 4.6, 4.57 goes to 4.6. After that, an additional .24 is added to the time to approximate the difference between a stopwatch and a laser timer. So Johnny Comelately whose high school coach with a dip cup in one hand and the Timex in the other clocked him at 4.62 after practice would be worth about a 4.94 (give or take) in a combine setting.
