If Nova is uptight about facing the vaunted Yankees on their home turf in a clincher, he certainly doesn't show it. His Detroit teammates kid him about his lack of a pregame routine.
double no.

Well that is a crappy lineup. Why would Kelly play over Inge. Inge is a better 3rd baseman and as bad of a hitter as he is, he has played well (and better than Kelly) this series.
Kelly is a better sinkerball hitter.

I mean besides some parts, Nova has really flown under the radar just like Fister has. That's what I was trying to get at.

Now they need Nova to channel his inner Pettitte. Good thing Nova counts Pettitte as one of his close friends. He called the lefthander before making his first appearance against the Tigers in the resumed Game 1 at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
"That's the example you got to take," Nova said. "Who's got more success than him in the playoffs?"
What advice did Pettitte give him?
"He told me that if you get in trouble in one inning, in any inning, one pitch can finish that inning or one pitch can take you out of the game. If you got a chance, execute that pitch," Nova said.
Good article

Spot on.

Throughout the first four games of the postseason, Jorge has done nothing but vindicate the Yankees’ decision to stick with him. He has reached base in nine of his 15 PA, rapping a triple and scoring four runs along the way. He has accumulated .256 WPA in those games, and hasn’t been in the negatives for any game. In Game 2 he was central in a comeback attempt, producing a team-leading .143 WPA and following up Nick Swisher‘s ninth-inning homer with the aforementioned triple. If the Yankees had pulled out that game and closed out the series on Tuesday, there’s a chance that Posada could have been named MVP.
Another good one
I know a couple Yankee fans here were upset that Jorge got the postseason DH job over Montero.
I don't know what Montero would've done so I'm not going to slobber ALL over Jorge here. But he (Jorge) has stepped it up for this team so far.

My last one, I swear.

After the Tigers won Game Two of the ALDS, the right-hander declared that “the series will finish in our house … They have a good team, but the series is not (coming) back to New York.” This came after Valverde allowed four of the seven men he faced to reach base that night, turning a 5-1 lead into a 5-3 lead while stranding the tying run on base. He walked the tight rope again the next night, but again held on for the save. The Yankees won Game Four, and now the series is coming back to New York despite Valverde’s proclamation.

Indeed.

I'm not AS pissed, but I still don't think it was the "smart" move.
Since Montero came up:
Montero: .328BA .406OBP .996OPS 159OPS+
Posada: .200BA .294OBP .694OPS 90OPS+

Valverde is dumb. I agree with the article 110%.
Know who he reminds me of?
Reminds me of Soriano. Not the best numbers in the world but he gets good cushions and can afford to give up a run or two.

I hate the dancing BS. Imagine the backlash he'd recieve if he would do that in New York.

I'm so tired. I got maybe 2 hours of sleep last night and I've been at work all day. I hope we blow this game open like we're hitting AJ and we go up 10-0 in the first so I can sleep.
ETA: Scratch that. We'd make AJ look like Mo and Cliff Lee's lovechild.

No shite.
I felt the same way yesterday. I was up for about 42 hours before I was finally able to sleep. Glad there wasn't a game last night.

Meh. He has like a 0.55 ERA in save situations this year and is 50/50 in saves. That is good I don't care who you are.
I don't know if he should have made the comments he did, but not sure if it makes him dumb. Were the yankees unmotivated to win the playoff games until Valverde made them?
