I believe the top 20 women pros would beat the majority of men collegiate players though. At the minimum it would be a good match. JMO.
Your opinion is way off. Waaaayyyyyy off

You think the #3 guy at Nebraska (random example) would beat Petra Kvitova? I don't. I know you played for LSU and I respect your opinion.

Yes they would destroy her. Our number 5 at LSU was the hitting partner for Vaidisova during the Canadian swing back in 2006 the summer before he came to lsu. She was top 10 at the time and he would beat her 6-2 or similar everytime

Nothing they do can hurt us. People focus on MPH of shots but that has nothing to do with it. They have no weight to their shots. The ball just isn’t heavy when they hit it

She consented to a PPV match where she got destroyed. I’m not saying she never played a man before. I am saying she never did it that I am aware of in front of the entire world.

Well I fail to see the difference but if you’re whole thing hinges on it being PPV then you might want to read the thread title you replied to

She also basically admitted that she probably couldn't even return serve against the guys.
This has been proven physically. She's played in mixed matches before and couldn't touch random low-ranking guys.

Venus Williams should be the one if any Williams should be chosen to play against a random male pro tennis player!

She already lost to the 203rd ranked German in 1998 6-1 in a one set exhibition.

Wasn't that the guy that was smoking between sets?

I certainly wouldn't disagree with your assessment but don't you think the top male players also have a tremendous speed and lateral quickness advantage? Watching nadal or Novak easily get to incredible cross court blasts just amazes me. They almost make it look like hitting practice with how easily they get to balls that a normal human would just watch hit the fence

He wouldn't have thrown it like Riggs did

2000 and down at least, the woman wouldn't get a set, maybe not a point.

Any male D1 tennis player would beat any woman in the world in straight sets and likely not lose a game.

Look. They probably wouldn’t win a game. Saying they wouldn’t win a point is so dumb though.

Yeah a double fault or unforced error would inevitable happen at some point. It wouldn’t be a close match, but to act like they wouldn’t get a point is ludicrous.

Possible. But not ALL D1 men…there are some crappy programs. Speaking in absolutes is difficult.

This is inaccurate. But winning 6-1 isn’t going to change anything.

There is a lot of piling on and hyperbole in this thread. Top WTA players are better at tennis than they're getting credit for in this thread. It wouldn't be just unforced errors - some of Serena's aces are 120 mph on the line and would be aces against anyone including Djokovic.

This isn’t true

Any male D1 power 5 player plus 40 or so of the other programs that take it serious would win in straight sets. The bottom guys would go 6-3 in some sets for sure

I liked your hypothetical matchup and that is what I had been thinking about. Something like a three or four singles player at a medium level Big Ten school versus a top 10 woman. We know the Stevie Johnsons and John Isners of the world would destroy any woman. But, a garden variety D1 player? I don't know.

A 3 or 4 from a big ten school would absolutely crush a top ten woman. Think 2 and 2 or something similar

I'd watch Serena against any male in the top 15 and take the guy to dominate.
