I firmly believe that if Meyers says he wants the job, Herman is gone as soon as he says so.

If Texas does want to move on from Herman now would they entertain Napier? Would Napier be interested in that job?

Napier seems to be one of the top names on the coaching list.

They would need to whiff on multiple guys before they'd turn to Napier and he absolutely would take the job

First, there is no one in Cajun Nation that does not understand that at best we will have Napier for only a year or two more. IMHO, and coming to know who he is over the last few years, he is one shrewd dude, and knows that (at least for now) he holds the cards and can be very selective with his next move. That said, Texas seems like something he would have a hard time turning down, if offered. But I kind of think he would like something in the SEC more. Just my thoughts.

I don't think you can fire Herman and then turn around and hire Napier. Fans would be livid. They've tried the G5 coach route with Strong and Herman. They are going to try to get a proven P5 coach now.

How quickly we forget 6 years ago Mark Hudspeth was as hot of a name around here as Billy Napier is now.

I bring up Mark Hudspeth because he’s coaching at the same school Billy Napier is now. In 2014 years before he got fired Mark Hudspeth was basically crowned the head coach in waiting for Mississippi State by this board.

Would have to think he's not even in their top 5, if that

they should make Urban"I'm coming to visit you Elizabeth"Meyer say No, then go hire Campbell immediately.

He's done EVERYTHING he can at ISU, and has earned his stripes and a shot at the big boy job.

You know, the coach who got fired from Cajun Nation, after a stop at MSU, gets the head gig at powerhouse Austin Peay. He and the wifey kept up their swinging ways and well lets just say he's no longer there.

Peterson would never put up with that school and boosters. Dude is very, very particular about the jobs he takes/doesn't take.

Two completely different people, certainly in diligence, personality and ethics/moral compass.

I get the temptation to compare them, but the two are completely different types of coaches and people. He wasn't that good at calling plays and in game management imo. Hudspeth was all emotion and hyping his team up. By year 2 you had people questioning his play calling way more than I've heard people question Napier's during his 3 years here.

Also, I remember while I was in school there (during Hudspeth) and knew people that knew players and all that and I got a feel that players started to see through his bullshite more and more as the years went on. And it was reflected in his records as time went on. You can also see it in how they each take responsibility. I see Napier taking way more responsibility for losses and whatnot than Hud ever did.

Overall, I just think Napier is a genuine dude who gets his players to believe in him by building a culture the right way and being a steady voice for them.
