I am just stating what was reported.

And it was reported by HIM that he didn't agree to the job.

He agreed to the job and then denied that he was taken the job. It is what it is.

How do you know he didn't agree on Sunday, or early today?

He could have easily said, "I have no comment."

Yeah that would've been a perfect move.

If you're "spending time with your family", then having a job that doesn't require you to fly across the entire country every week might help.

Then say that. Its a joke to compare the two jobs PERIOD.

Not to mention being gone 2-3 days a week and being home the rest gives quite a bit of family time IMO

Yep. And this stuff about delegating... Didn't he say he was doing this at Florida after his first resignation/vacation?

I actually believe that the first time he announced he was retiring, he was serious about taking a few years away from coaching to get healthy because the stress was getting to him. Even that '09 season felt completely joyless to everyone despite having a great team because of the immense pressure to repeat.

I always thought Jeremy Foley probably urged him to stay on for one more season to salvage the recruiting class and give him more time to look for a replacement, because Urban's first announcement pretty much caught Foley by surprise.

Yes, that is what I said.

Sure. Again, if OSU fans choose to be obtuse, then there is no point in having a conversation.

I didn't say anything about a "perfect move." Once an agreement was in place there was no perfect move. However a BETTER move is to not totally deny the exact reports 72 hours prior of what will be announced at 7am the Monday morning after!

Then it is the way he handled the announcement of taking the Ohio State job. I just think that was done in poor taste given Luke Fickell's position and the impending OSU- UM rivalry game. He basically lied about the fact he had already accepted the job.

That was the right way to do it. It was not his fault that he was approached about this job. He made the smart move to deflect his answers until after the game. He wanted the focus to be on OSU-Michigan, not him until the regular season was complete.

I think I should add Urban Meyer to the list of people in sports this board irrationally hates.

You are basing all your bullshite reasoning on reports, when other reports said the opposite.

I'm not saying one report is more true than any other...they are reports.

This is what I am talking about.

Yeah Tim Tebow was only a first-round pick. Urban Meyer really destroyed his career.

If I remember correctly, he said that he had not been contacted by OSU and was not in negotiations with then. In my book that is lying.

How do you know this? From the insider reports I've seen he took the weekend off to negotiate. Nothing was done or finalized until late last night.

I'm not a huge Urban Meyer fan at all. I hope this all works out for Ohio State.

That being said, Meyer was trying to deflect with the purpose of making the talk die down so that Luke could do his job. I think that was the correct thing to do. He basically refused to answer any questions about it, which again is the right thing to do.

This is gonna make this board more interesting for Ohio State fans for sure.

I can almost guarantee that if your kid got a D1 scholarship to tOSU, that you would not hesitate, so please stop wasting time with this bullshite. Thank you, the other sensible people.

I agree, he seems like he is full of shite. Something of a mercenary coach. I'd much rather have my kid playing for someone with some semblance of loyalty.

If your kid is getting a scholarship to play football at OSU, he is getting them at other top-notch schools as well.

Not necessarily but have you seen his success outside of the SEC? took Utah to 10-2 in two years. So yea i wouldnt hesitate to send him to tOSU. So it really doesnt matter where he goes he is still successful.

Yeah, because flying around the country calling games for ESPN all year is better for his health or family life than having 6-7 home games a year.

Apparently you don't know much about the life of a controlling CFB coach...

Flying around to call games, with a handful of week appearances, is NOTHING compared to the workload of that

Agree with you Wunder. If my son had the chance to play at OSU, it's a no brainer. OSU is BIG TIME college football.
