Debate going on in the Jake Fromm thread so I figured I'd start a thread about it.

Knowing what you know about 2019 Burrow, and what we knew about 2017 Trubisky, Watson, and Mahomes, would Burrow have been the first QB taken?

Fwiw, Burrow is rated as a 92 by McShay while the 2017 Trubisky was an 89, Watson an 88, and Mahomes an 85. All 3 were considered unpolished projects from what I recall.

If Burrow/LSU has the same season in 2017 as he did this year he goes first of that group

If he had this season

I am saying yes.

Mahomes and Watson went 10 and 12 because teams didn't evaluate them well.

I don't think Cleveland passes on their native son who just threw 55 TDs. Then again they might. They are Cleveland. But Chicago doesn't go with Mitch of Burrow.

Burrow is the #1 pick in almost every recent draft. Maybe absent the Andrew Luck and Cam Newton years

Yes. But you could say the same about Lawrence for next year

Hard to say. Most likely.

Would we be saying LSU beats Clemson in the 2017 title game? If that is the case, then absolutely he'd be the first QB taken.

I wouldn't have taken Burrow over Watson.

Athens is closer to Pittsburgh and Cincinnati than Cleveland. Hell, its only 30 min closer than Indianapolis.

NFL GM's I think in that scenario would dissect Burrow's career a bit and wonder why he was so average as a Jr. Its a valid concern as all NFL systems may not fit him depending on where he's drafted. Is he a system QB would be my fear as the other QB's not named Trubisky had a better overall resume and proved they could make NFL throws as opposed to Burrows 1 year of success.

I think Burrow would be the #1 pick in every draft after the 2012 Draft with Luck.

The fact that Tribisky is the one who went first in 2017 would make this logic completely irrelevant

I'll let yall guess whose average stats these are

QB A
41 total TD per year
4406 total yards per year

QB B
38.3 total TD per year
4032.3 total yards per year

QB C
38.7 total TD per year
4032.3 total yards per year

Same yardage on the number. Pretty interesting and I'd have never guessed that

By this Logic, Colt Brennan is a better QB than Joe Burrow

Colt Brennan

48.7 Td's per yr
4,913 Total yds per Yr
