It just doesn’t make sense. You aren’t going to bring Kershaw back for game 4 and he’s already used up. Just push him until he can’t go anymore or gets in trouble especially with a bullpen game tomorrow.
at this point in kershaws career, he needs to be treated as a fragile time bomb. It was 8-1, through 6, and we can't have another back flair up before game 5. If it was 2-1 or 3-1 id be frustrated. But the games over and we can't frick with Clayton's health.

The problem was not giving Gonzalez enough time to warm up

I would have preferred not to waste Baez tonight.

Exactly. We saw what happened last series when he went just a little too long. I have no problems with Dave for that call

He’s still earned the right to have a little leash if he starts that next inning. He was cruising, don’t think the Rays had hit a ball hard off of him all night and low pitch count. The goal in a blowout should be to use as little pitching as possible, especially with only one day off after a tough 7 game series. Give him the 7th with understanding that if there is the slightest bit of trouble he’s out. Don’t think his health is going to be an issue if he adds another 20 pitches to that left arm in a short season.

ETA: if they were worried about health they would have taken him out after the 30 minute 5th inning while he was just sitting and waiting

Only way the Rays get back in this game is with what the Dodgers did, and they were what like two inches from turning the lineup over with runners on 1st and 2nd and only one out down 4

The Braves lineup is not the Rays lineup. Rays could see Kershaw 4 or 5 times and never string anything together

Regardless all worked out in the end.

Rays prolly going back to the clubhouse knowing they have to pack a lunch to beat this club. Snell vs bullpen game tomorrow

the issue isn't his arm. It's his back and it can flair up whenever. Like it did last week and forced his start to get pushed two games

No reason to play with fire when the game was over and he will be needed on Sunday

had more to do with bringing in a guy who was nowhere near warm. That was Robert's problem tonight

Right my fault with the arm thing I forgot about the back flare up, but if that’s the worry they wouldn’t have ran him out there for 6th after the long time between innings. He came back out after that and threw what like 10 pitches?

Wait so Florio wasn’t ready to go to start the inning? He was the one on when they started to get rolling a bit. Hitting is contagious, those guys got a little confidence seeing a new arm and started attacking and feeling good about themselves because Kershaw was out. Then the wind went completely out of their sails on the Zunino double play ball.

Again, regardless it still worked out best case scenario for the Dodgers so the move worked. I just see it a different way

The guy after florio didn’t have time to get warm and he got rocked and bailed himself out with the double play.

which is fair. If kershaw didn't have back of glass or if it was still 2-1 I would 100% be with you

No I know, but Florio got hit too so it started before that. Obviously Gonzalez not being completely hot hurt that inning a little more but the different arm to start that inning gave the Rays a little life

No doubt, you guys are obviously more keyed in on his health than I am as a fan of a different team so that’s a really good point I didn’t think of while that was going on.

I suppose the other argument for taking him out is psychological, as he leaves on a high note. If he pitches the 7th and gets in trouble, that could carry over to his next start.

Hopefully kelly didn’t hurt his hand.

Should be a decent matchup Unless Snell decides it is too dangerous to pitch in Texas.
