Anybody know why Nola is pitching for Italy instead of the US? Hes better than half the pitchers we have on the roster.

Because he didn't make the US roster.

He didn't have a good year and has been trending downwards as pitchers in their 30s tend to do

I’d love to see a game in Japan. Such a different atmosphere than in the states.

Loved when they showed the Taiwan defensive alignment, you had all these traditional asian names and then Stuart Fairchild in center

Taipei's current WBC roster could double as their LLWS teams from the 1980's and 1990's given their ages.

TIL that the Czech Republic is now commonly referred to as Czechia. I can’t keep up with these formerly communist European countries!

Been looking forward to this competition for a while now. This is a big deal and as mentioned we received a very favorable draw.

I'm hoping the games will be available on-demand on the Fox Sports app.

USA roster looks pretty legit.

This tournament would be more legit if it had FIFA eligibility rules. You have to be a citizen of the country you play for. Never understood having teams like Italy and Great Britain play in this tournament when all their players are born in US.

100% and I believe it will get there, and soon.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is the quasi-equivalent of FIFA - it serves as the world governing body for international baseball competitions.

However, unlike FIFA, it does not establish so-called "laws" of the game that are universally applied.

Hopefully that occurs at some point.

It is pretty hilarious. On Great Britain, their entire team is from the US except Jazz Chisholm, Lucius Fox, Ian Lewis, BJ Murray, Kristian Robinson, Chavez Fernandez who are all from the Bahamas, a British territory. Not a single one of them are actually from Great Britain.

Italy has 2 Italian players on the roster

The entire Netherlands roster are players from Dutch territories in the Caribbean

Every single player on Israel's roster is an American Jewish player.
