This. It's a bigger deal for them. I wish they would do it more often. I thought it was awesome when they went to the Amherst-Williams game a few years back.

Partially off topic, but watching the game day story on Bridgewater, am I naive to be amazed that I don't think they've ever shown a black athlete's mom who shared the same last name as her son.

Yea I know, racist rabble rabble, but it's just crazy to me how prevalent single mothers are in the black community. Teddy seems to have a great one, so I'm not judging her at all.

They do something like this every year. Just throwing the little guys a bone every now and then. I think they did it on the deck of an aircraft carrier or something last year. Did you bitch about "Who the frick has the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln beaten to deserve Gameday?!?!?"

One of the best Gamedays I've seen. Looked awesome.

Made me want to visit Fargo.

I did. It would be easier for you to just tell me what problem you had. It might not be the best thread for it, but it's an observation I've had every time they show an athlete's mom in the stands or in a story like that.

Is it the absolute terms that are the issue? Perhaps "never" was too much hyperbole? I'm honestly missing it. I meant no offense. It's more of a concern I share than a slight of any kind.

Eta: nice edit. I think the statistics would agree with me, but this is a dumb discussion for gameday and the rant.

Teen mom - see how many of these are black?
Also following are limited to black women
- not changing name after marriage/divorce etc
- multiple marriages
- multiple divorces
- death of partner
yada yada

Are you talking %s or just numbers? Have you seen some numbers or is it age old wisdom from your favorite radio yak-eteer?

Are you seriously using an MTV show about a few girls to prove your point?

Something like 70% of black children grow up in single parent households compared to 25% of white kids.

If only humanity could invent some type of network of information processing machines that a person could access in order to research questions like this quickly.
