Griffey has the highest % ever at 99.3%. Is this just because of old arse voters?

We're more likely to see it now that the writer's association has taken away the votes of the old coots that haven't covered the game in 25 years.

No because they have @$$holes that have ballots that turn them in blank every year

Will Jeter top Jr's 99.3%? I guess he would be the next logical hope of those on the next few ballots.

No. It is like an unwritten rule that someone has to vote no.

If Jr. can't get in unanimously, no one can. There will always be that one guy at least who will vote no like a jackass

He should be. There is always one a-hole reporter who got his feelings hurt by a player and then refuses to vote for him on the first ballot, then comes up with some sort of bullshite reason why he voted against. Jeter was fairly universally liked by the media, so I think he has a legit chance to be unanimous.

I don't follow baseball but it seems like once the old guard dies off that archaic mindset would die off with it.

I mean it used to be underclassmen weren't even considered for a heisman, let alone a freshman which was unheard of. And now look where we are.

Not until they change the format.

Some people that didn't vote for Griffey did it because they knew no doubt that he was getting in, and wanted to show support for more of the fringe guys and make sure someone they personally though was deserving didn't drop off.

As long as they can only vote for 10 max, someone will leave off a no-brainer because that guy it getting in regardless.

Unless eventually there's a year with no logjam and a candidate that is undeniably worthy.

With a logjam on the ballot right now, non-unanimous selections make a lot more sense thanks to tactical voters who use all 10 slots, but pass over guys who they feel WILL get elected without their help.

We'll be through the backlog in about 10 years, so... probably by the time Trout is on the ballot, he'll have a shot at being unanimous. Jeter has a less than zero chance of getting 100%.

Baseball writers are way too much of a collective bag of limp dicks to ever unanimously approve someone.

of all the players that should have been and weren't, Jeter wasn't even in the same ballpark as those players. Jeter never won an MVP, only led the league in a major statistical metric twice in 20 years, etc. He had a HOF career, but unanimous selection for the HOF, not even close. Jeter had the benefit of playing for the best organization in baseball in the biggest market in the country and for a long time. Had he played for a team like Minnesota, this wouldn't even be a conversation.

Feel like Griffey got snubbed to give it to Jeter.

If Jeter is unanimous and Griffey was not, that would be the final nail in the coffin of delegitimization of the HoF. They can sit there without Bonds and Clemens and others and vote Griffey in at 99.3% or whatever but if Jeter gets 100% then it's all a sham.

This guy was pretty darn good from the time he got in the league...

He should get close to 3000 hits and will almost certainly have over 600 HR and around .310 BA for his career.

2 Gold Gloves, 3 MVPs, 2 World Series, and 10x All-Star

He had a couple of injuries through the years but his numbers are pretty ridiculous.
