Hopefully we never have to answer that question. I'd rather see the Spurs lose and Duncan retire...never liked him
never liked the spurs but always respected Duncan. Loved him at WF but not so much in the nba for stupid reasons. He was boring and I hated the spurs

Will he go out like Elway? It's always the perfect way to cap a career and there isn't anything left to prove..
He will stay and win another. What else is he gonna do??????????

Hell no. He's still playing basketball at a high level. E loves the game to much.

he still has at least 2 high level year left imo.

He's not really in competition with Kobe.
So if he wins his fifth championship this year, thus putting him level with Kobe, he won't be considered on par with Kobe.
Makes sense
Never mind the fact that he has as many regular season MVPs, one more Finals MVP, and a far superior defensive resumé. Ignore the fact that he was the best player on all four of his championship teams, something Kobe was clearly not.
He didn't score like Kobe, and he didn't play for a big market team. He doesn't like the spotlight.

Why would he retire besides being older?
Still productive and doesn't have to do much besides play defense occasionally and score about 15 a game, maybe 20 for a good game.
He's not like other players that rely on speed and altheticism to be good. He can play for as long as he wants really barring severe injury

He may feel that way, but he obviously is healthy and his IQ for the game makes him an unquestionable asset on the court. The man could play as long as he is healthy.

Why is the notion of Duncan being better than Kobe absurd? Because he is boring and the ultimate team guy? Typical Nba fan ignorance.

it's absurd because i have strong Lakers bias. deal with it.

IMO, I actually think Duncan is better than Kobe. I just don't think he compares himself to Kobe or thinks that they are rivals. So he wouldn't need to one up him.
You don't need to sell me on the greatness of Duncan. I bought in a long, long time ago.

Duncan just doesn't seem like a guy that will keep playing just to chase records and rings. He'll keep playing as long as he's healthy and still wants to and thinks he can help his team win.

Duncan is the best PF to ever play the game. Kobe is not the best SG of all time. Therefore, Duncan > Kobe.

That is just silly. Tim Duncan knows full well that he and Kobe are considered by everybody to be the top 2 players of the last decade and he knows getting a 6th ring would cement his place ahead of Kobe
