Add land mines and lions on the field, then I might care No really, most sports, I'd rather be playing/participating. Had to buy a motocross bike in my mid 20's b/c I didn't just want to watch everyone ride. Played soccer when I was younger, and have to say I still prefer watching/playing/being involved in individual sports.

valid points and i see how it can be perceived that way.

Its the same concept as american football... except without yard markers, downs, and as many play stoppages.

move the ball down the field. take big risks, big reward or turnover. protect the ball, or turn it over and cause a fast break... get close to the goal, run a play (yes, there are plays ), get a scoring chance, find mismatches and exploit them

its just continuous action, to those who choose to view it that way. i know most think its "boring" but there is more to it than whats being given credit for

Gladiator style. Seriously, come to NO for a match at Finn McCool's and your perception will be changed forever.

Though I do dislike some of the TV timeouts in football, soccer is just sooooooooo boring.

How do you root for a team in soccer when one second they have the ball by the opponents goal and 3 seconds later its kicks on the other side the f-ing field... Do you just sit in silence till a score. There are no first down, or huge play like football to get excited about.
What a guy fakes out the other team and kicks a goal, well La De Da!!

exactly... play never stops. injury minutes are accounted for at the end (you know, the "clock counting up" everyone hates) and injury minutes make for the most exciting parts of the game if close

That's another thing, glass. Watching something in person or surrounded by people who are SO into it is an actual experience, and a blast. People were being so hard on the band-wagon Saints fans this year, but shite, how much fricking fun WAS that?! And that's what, in the end, life's about; experience, passion, emotion. Sport brings that out, just in different venues for some.

Soccer is boring because, to us, there is no set plays and organization.

Is rugby boring to you?

Baseball you have innings that separated the time so you can organize what happened when...

Dull. And I can watch baseball without hating it.

Soccer has such long periods of play that it sometimes feels like they are just out there kicking it back and forth.

Soccer has no stoppages? No half time? No fouls? No set pieces?

Also any sport where the clock counts up and not down, can suck my balls!

Rugby.

im sure youre just trying to be clever, but no, there is no goal/goaline in NASCAR to put a ball through as basketball, hockey, soccer.

midfield posession is obviously underrated. what is perceived as "just kicking it around" and "flopping" (this does occur), and boring, is actually way more than that...

move a ball down the field, put it in goal. pretty simply?

Hank Hill: Bobby, I didn't think I'd ever need to tell you this, but I would be a bad parent if I didn't. Soccer was invented by European ladies to keep them busy while their husbands did the cooking.
Bobby Hill: Why do you hate what you don't understand?
Hank Hill: I don't hate you Bobby!
Bobby Hill: I was talking about soccer.
Hank Hill: Oh yeah, I hate soccer.

how many times has the "high scoring" shite been mentioned? haven't read a lick of the thread....people that mention this are giving proof that they simply dont know jack shite about the sport.
