Because they lost to them head to head?
Head to head is a tiebreaker. They aren't tied in the playoff rankings. OSU is ahead of them, so head to head is irrelevant.

Seriously, why are so many grown men incapable of grasping this? "Better record + tougher schedule" trumps "Conference champion and head to head winner."

Why is this so hard?

Do you have to win your division in the NFL to make the playoffs? Nope.

A team doesn't have to win their division to make the playoffs in the NFL, MLB, NBA, but there is also no way a non-division winner can get into the playoffs while the winner of their division is left out.

Given that every other level of sport grants an automatic playoff spot to conference/division winners, I would say that it's important.

They also don't give division championships because "head-to-head."

Head-to-head record absolutely factors into division tiebreakers.

Why isn't Tennessee the SEC East Champion?

Don't know what the bigger discussion is, but his statement isn't false.

And the answer to your question is, because they aren't tied to begin with

The first thing looked at to see who wins the division in every sport I can think of is OVERALL RECORD.

If that was the case in the Big Ten, then Ohio State goes to the title game.

If the CFP looks at I like that, then Ohio State goes to the CFP.

And that's why Ohio State will get in before the B1G champ. With a better record and tougher schedule, head to head doesn't move the needle.

Yep, but 11-1 and 10-2 are not equal.

Because we have conferences!

College football is regional - with conferences spread out.

You prove you're the best in your area by winning your conference.

If that bothers you...

Then don't play in a conference - go independent.

Why is winning anything on the field a big deal?

You play to win the game...

Winning something meaningful on the field grants you the reward to move forward to the playoffs instead of the same old arbitrary b.s. subjective preseason rankings followed by "eye-test."

By winning your conference you through all this political ESPN driven committee subjective eye-test out the window.

They can't screw teams if the requirement is you have to win your conference to be in consideration for the playoffs.

Otherwise, lets just dissolve conferences. They obviously don't mean shite to you - apparently some people don't care about Conference championships...so just move on, go Independent and vacate previous Conference championships because apparently they don't mean anything.

Better yet, let's get rid of OOC games. They seem to be meaningless to you.

Here is YOUR problem... YOU know that OSU LOST to Penn St. And are selling your soul that OSU should be there in front of the Big Ten Champ...

IMO OSU is the better team out of all three involved...

You seem VERY insecure.....

You aren't right. The fact that 1 /4 to
1/3 of a team's season has nothing to do with their conference opens the door for those fractions of seasons to sway things one way or another, if only rarely.

We are men. We are the gender who are good at comprehending these things. If you can't grasp this, you are a woman.
