Baseball is hell of a lot more popular than college football where I live (Baltimore). I never ever hear people talk about college football around here but MLB remains a popular topic despite the struggles of the Orioles.

I'd like to dispute this. Dude, Japan is literally baseball insane.

baseball is popular in america, japan, and some latin/caribbean countries

basketball is popular in america, western europe, russia, and china

Personally, I think the fact star players get to bend the rules is asinine and will hurt the sport.

happens in baseball too

top pitchers have bigger strike zones

top batters have smaller strike zones

guys perceived as good fielders won't have to do things in the field like tag 2nd on a double play

The San Francisco Giants' five-game victory over the Texas Rangers averaged an 8.4 rating and 14 share. That matches the record low of the 2008 Phillies-Rays World Series, which also went five games, with the decisive game suspended and completed two days later because of rain.

The average rating was down 28 percent from the 11.7/19 for last year's Yankees-Phillies series. World Series Average Rating since 84

and you lose credibility every time you say it

you don't know nearly enough about baseball to make such a claim

Nice work, so much for guy who said basketball is more popular than ever!

How about that 18.7 share for the Bulls/Jazz. That is a huge number for basketball.

there are only so many variables on a baseball field that matter. it's nothing compared to the variables in football

the individual matchup of pitcher-hitter is unlike many you find in other sports, but there are a limited number of variables you have to worry about in baseball. the pauses help out a great deal in the analysis (this is true for football as well, but once in play the action is much more fluid. action in baseball is static)

i know you were a pitcher and you'll ride baseball's dick until the cows come home, but you have to look at it objectively

I'd take MLB over NBA anyday and I'm a ROYALS fan. Can you imagine the uproar if MLB went away compared to what it'd be if the NBA went away.lol.

time in game, count, number of outs, type of hitter (pull, spray, contact, power, etc.), baserunners, type of pitcher on mound (power, finesse, pitch to contact, etc.)

these are only defensive considerations

like I said, you do not understand baseball enough to make such a judgement.

nobody is saying that football is not a difficult sport. at the same time, why is it still a popular idea that some of the least intelligent guys play the game

i think it could be fair to say that certain positions on a football field require superior analytical ability (QB, S) but others may no require the same levels of analysis. in baseball, every single payer on the field must take many factors into consideration on every single pitch.

The NBA finals have beaten the World Series in TV ratings only three times: 1998 (the last year before Jordan's second retirement), 2008 (Lakers/Celtics) and 2010 (Lakers/Celtics again). During the Golden Age of NBA basketball (1980s, early 1990s), the NBA finals never beat the TV ratings for the World Series. Not one single time.

time in game
substitutions (not really a fluid part of baseball or soccer)
type of opponent (individually)
formation changes (not found in baseball)
how the players lined up within formation

football has
down/distance (in football)
set plays

basketball has
fouls
set plays

soccer has
no breaks. it requires complete, constant focus/attention

then within the play, there is more action than baseball. you are limited in what you do on offense in baseball, due to the nature of the game. the runner will go to 1st. then 2nd. then 3rd. then home. in football/basketball/soccer, there is 360-degree movement (within the lines of the field)

Love college baseball, love it. HATE the MLB. If I could support a fund that gets rid of the MLB I would. WAY WAY WAY to frickin long, far to many teams that don't matter, no such thing as "team" with all the trades and such, overpaid players.
