Your understanding is way wrong. This is the first season the Bengals have used this specific language, but according to insiders, it's supposedly already used by over half the teams in the league.
Why is it more fair if they push it off to next year's first round pick because Stewart doesn't want it? The Bengals aren't caving and they shouldn't. Stewart's representation is overvaluing his client's position.
