Not call offsides like they currently do. If a guy is halfway between the opponent goal and the midline with the ball offsides makes no sense to me. I get you want to prevent cherry picking but I hate the offsides call.

That direct free kicks not have a wall outside of the 30 yard mark

Have offsides be called immediately and no advantage, if it’s a foul it’s a foul

good god, how hard is it to understand? Yes, I realize there's probably some formations, spacing, and strategy that I don't fully understand, since I've never played.

I fully understand that you don’t enjoy soccer so you want to change the rules. What you don’t seem to understand is that what you’re saying is fricking dumb.

But let's stop with the notion that soccer can only be understood by those who have played.

That’s not true at all. It’s just clear that you don’t understand it. Case in point:

quote:

At the end of the day, it a bunch of guys kicking a ball back and forth, with frequent turnovers, and VERY FEW real scoring opportunities.

But hey, you keep watching. I'll go watch my grass grow.

Give me one rule change to soccer that would make the game better. Just one. And it can be minor, but just give me one.

I’m not the one demanding that a sport I don’t like change it’s rules to make it more appealing to me.

I just don’t watch it.

I knew you wouldn't list even one small change, because once you did that, you'd be acknowledging that the game isn't perfect and that certain rule changes actually might make sense.

Dig those heels in, while the rest of us consider changes that (gasp!) might actually be good for the game.

I don’t see any reason to come up with changes to the rules of a game to appease someone who doesn’t even want to watch it.

No one ever said the rules are perfect, but suggesting changes to rules of a sport that you clearly don’t understand is quite stupid.

but I actually WOULD watch it if the game had more legitimate scoring opportunities. Believe me, I WANT to like soccer, but the current rules strangle the offense.

So I'm merely suggesting opening it up so there's more legit scoring chances. But that requires some rule changes.

So you’d only watch the game if they fundamentally change what it is? Yeah, that’s stupid.

They should make the goals 100' wide, and get rid of goalkeepers. Then they'd score all the time!

because EVERY sport can be improved.

Again, football at one time didn't allow the forward pass. College and NFL continuously tweak the rules every year for the betterment of the game.

Basketball didn't have a shot clock or 3-point line. THey still tweak the distance of the arc.

Baseball lowered the mound and is tinkering with the notion of moving the mound back, for more offense. Also a pitch clock.

Tennis recently added a serve clock. Golf allows the flag stick to stay in on the green and dramatically altered the drop rule.

Gymnastics changed their scoring system.

All sports tweak their rules for the betterment of the game.

But I guess soccer's rules are just perfection, in your eyes. And that's sad.

Soccer recently added VAR for goals and, later, fouls. It's silly to act like the rules have never changed just because they don't change offside to something dumb.

The thing is you specifically. Everything you've said about soccer is wrong. People like you shouldn't and won't have any bearing on changing the game.

Soccer has tweaked several rules. You still don’t like it so don’t watch it.

The only thing you’ve “won” is the “I’m a dipshit who doesn’t have a clue” award.

Congrats.
