1) I don't think the premise is true (see UT vs. TAMU; Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State; Alabama vs. Auburn).

Because no one in the state outside of Lafayette or ULL alumni base accept them as "Louisiana." I went and saw them play Arizona in Tucson a couple of years ago. I rooted for the Cajuns, but did inform the Arizona fans around me, they are not really "Louisiana". I call LSU "Louisiana."
