They are hired assassins now, less loyalty.
A player from yester year was talking about how little the players actually care about rivalries,comradery, etc. And now with the $$$ aspect, they care even less.
Older days, you had team mates who would cripple a guy, if they had to with a revenge hit. NHL is a perfect example, so many guys take hits to the head, back in 60's-2000, a goon, or some on on the bench would of nearly crippled your arse, or beat you into the ice. YOu see some of top stars take nasty hits, and their team mates are pushing people.

Are there still goons in the NHL? Or did that get legislated out of the game and now more focus is on maximizing your resources?
One could get away with a lot more in nearly every aspect of life in the 60s compared to now, no?

Goons have been gone for decades, and the cheap shots and head shots have gone up.
In the 60's, if you fricked with a Cardinal player, Bob Gibson would put a baseball in your ear hole. NHL had a line of goons back then, you were going to miss teeth, how many depended on how cheap of shite you did. NFL, guys would head hunt, safeties were the top head hunters
Todays game, its guys being paid, as soon as games r over, they go separate ways(sup steve perry). There isn't the bond the players in past had.

As soon as it happened, a OL, should of went helmet first into usc players helmet of chest.
Good for Oregon Wr's, but the OL should of done it.
