St Louis TV market
St. Louis has been producing a bunch of cfb talent the last decade or so. Back years ago, that talent was going to the B1G like Ezekiel Elliott.
If Mizzou can continue to keep the STL players in Missouri, they can compete.

Why do people always clown on Mizzou in the SEC when Aggy does FAR less with so much more?
Missouri was never a bad addition.

Missouri is a unique state. It’s almost like Green Acres. Some local people in the same town have the standard clean Midwest accent while some will have an upper south accent.

Can we add Miami? I’d love to catch a road game in South Beach That stadium is no where near South Beach and has a terrible atmosphere for college football.
Meh. The South Beach area has gone down the past few years. Becoming Atlanta on the beach.
Surfside and North Beach are much better beaches/areas as well as less riff raff present.

St. Louis and KC TV markets

For everyone else, it has done nothing to enhance SEC football
Where do think the resources to build new facilities and pay for top coaches comes from, the tooth fairy?
But clearly it’s been a “disaster” for SEC football since the advent of the SECN

quote:I think there’s more Kansas fans in that area than mizzou honestly. Lawrence is 30/40 minutes (if that) away from KC. There’s also a good chunk of k state fans there. I doubt there’s more k state pull than mizzou but there’s still enough to make a dent.
Kansas City which goes into the Sunflower state as well.
All that too say I’m not sold the KC market factors in much.

It does because of the way ESPN is paid based on cable subscribers. It doesn’t matter if there are more Big XII fans or people that don’t care about sports at all. If you have the package that carries the SECN you are paying for it, that’s why KC matters

Yeah, I agree, but at about the same time Nebraska went to the Big Ten and this was just before cable tv subscriptions stopped mattering. Same reason the Big Ten added MD and Rutgers. Though you can argue that adding DC and and Baltimore and tangentially NYC were bigger additions but TAMU added many fans in TX.
It was a different era, but just barely. Let's say Mizzou stayed in the Big 12. They would still be in the Big 12 now. Timing can be everything.
Hell, there is no way in hell Arkie gets added now to the SEC. Arkie and SC were added so the SEC could have two divisions and a championship game. TV markets and cable tv didn't matter then when you consider SC and Arkie are not big market teams and they are not really brands.
