Manning is a true student of the game. He had a way of making players around him. BetterThe pressure on him was huge because of his pedigree. Brady has the same gift but had the best head coach in history. Montana was s great qb. But the only SB winning year that
He didn’t have the best team was 1981. And he had a master offensive HC.

The Patriots haven't won the division since Brady left the team. Granted, it's only been two seasons but they won the AFC East every year from 2009-2019. They failed to win the AFC East only once with Brady as the full time starter and that was 2002. Bill Belichick was a sub-.500 coach prior to Brady taking over for Drew Bledsoe in Week Three of the 2001 season.

Don’t bring silly things like facts and logic into this. Belichick is the only reason they ever won dammit!

One of my top “What if?” sports scenarios is how Brady and Belichick would have fared if Brady had been drafted by another team.

That's not necessarily true. Some players just take longer to develop than others.

In my GOAT criteria, I take into consideration what they were able to do in college. Manning was a record-breaking superstar at every stop.

I think if Manning signs with some college team other than UT and is drafted by some NFL team other than the Colts, I think he’s more likely to have become comparable to the Manning we know than if Brady had shuffled teams.

I don’t think there’s ever been a more ordained QB superstar than Peyton Manning.

so I guess in your mind he greatest football player ever has to have been someone in the past since anyone playing currently or in the future will have better training and medical staff is this correct

Not correct at all, nice strawman though, gives a great window into your thought process.

What I would argue is current and future players are better than in the past because of those advances and not because of some leap in human evolution. There are some players in the past that I think would excel in the current league, with the rules and modern offenses that many younger guys dismiss because their stats aren’t as good or careers weren’t as long.

However based on all the criteria we’ve ever used in these debates: stats, wins, longevity Brady has to be considered the greatest QB ever.

Much better to bring in false either or scenarios. No coach wins with scrubs but The Patriots won their first SB because of defense. Now do they get there with Bledsoe? Maybe, maybe not he did get to one before and it’s not like Brady did anything special in the playoffs that year. But it’s fair if not obvious to say they would not have won without Brady but it does require a full team, they did go 10 years between SB wins because the overall team was not as good

A really good one. I think Patriots would have been good 2001-2004 with Bledsoe because the defense was good but probably don’t win a SB. Beyond that who knows.

With Brady it all depends on where he would have landed. A 6th round pick doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt like 1st rounders. With a truly dis functional franchise, a couple of passes that bounce on the WR hands and they lose, they might move on. You’d think the talent would eventually break thru a La Kurt Warner. I like to think there’s an alternative universe where the Saints take Brady instead of Marc Bulger at 165 or whatever and have 7 Super Bowls and counting
