You're trying to make a contradiction where it doesn't exist. You and I both know about Tiger's personal life. Him being a whiny bitch was an on the course issue.

Saying "I don't really like the guy" is not judgmental IMO. Saying "I'm morally superior to Tiger Woods" is, but I don't know that many people are doing that.

I'm perplexed by the same attitude about Vick. People were just totally confounded that some people didn't like him after he returned. "But he paid his debts!" they claimed. Who gives a shite, that doesn't mean I have to be a fan of him.

I don't want Tiger banned or in jail or embarrassed, I just don't really get the appeal. I obviously watch him and appreciate him at the top of his craft.

I mean, I appreciate that I'm not a bumpkin or a thug, but your reaction is what I'm talking about. People freak the frick out when you don't praise Tiger Woods.

I'm not that into hero worship, especially when the hero kind of sucks.

It was your contradiction. I never liked Ray Lewis because i think he killed someone and then found religion with all of his motivational speeches.

i guess its the magnitude of the perceived wrong the person has committed.
I never had a problem with Vick, I dont equate a dogs life with a human being. do I think he should have done time, yes of course, he broke several laws. Will i hold it against him forever, no of course not
But as i said with Ray, someone lost their life, thats different for me.
because Tiger was a shitty husband and the most dominate guy since Jack, I dont hate him for either and ESPN will cover it till the cows come home, but thats not his fault.
but its your contradiction, you mentioned his family life in one post and said its stupid to do so in another.

There was no contradiction. I said I didn't like Tiger's on the course behavior, and that his family situation blew up. To me there is an obvious difference between being worried about someone's personal life and simply being aware by waking up in the morning and turning on ESPN.

I said I think it is stupid for you to insinuate that people who don't like Tiger, or who simply aren't fans, are "worried" about his personal life, which it is.

I won't mind at all if Tiger is in contention this week. If it's between him and a guy I like more, I'll root for the other guy. Such is the depth of my seething hatred.

Oh I don't care if you don't like Tiger. I'm a Kobe fan, I'm accustomed to your line of thinking. I was just implying that usually when someone starts a sentence with "I'm not one of these people that..." you can assume a douchey comment will follow.

I find people who root for all losers to be just as annoying as rooting for all winners.

In truth I don't care much if someone is a bandwagon fan of all the prominent teams at the time, but it does get annoying when they take big pride and talk shite about their conveniently-adopted teams. Like I said though, equally annoying here in Atlanta to deal with the Brewers/Dolphins/Look at me I'm a non-conformist fan.

But some people really only get enthusiastic about rooting for the elite teams and players, and that has always struck me as weird. I understand the appeal of watching elite teams and players, I just don't have whatever it is that makes people automatically pull for them.

Dude was also on par with the Pope and Michael Jackson for a while. Now that he may be resurgent (we'll see), the tempers are up on both sides.

I think it's a patterned response. People see me ambivalent toward Woods and assume I hate him and they respond in kind. He's become so polarizing that people don't comprehend that you'd not root for him but not hate him at the same time.

I get why people may not like Tiger, but I've seen those same people on here be fans of Patrick Reed.

I don't disagree with any of that. I have a buddy who is from Tennessee an because a Michigan fan when he was a kid. I mean...

He's also a Patriots and Yankees fan. It's miserable to watch sports with him.

Also agree about loser fans. Gets really bad with MLB fans.

Woods is "well liked by the players" because they all know he was responsible for the huge spike in tour money the networks put up due to the high interest he brought to the tour ( as in ad money). But he was not liked by the worker bees around the tour, as he treated them all like peasants. That he cursed & acted like an arse also makes him unpopular. His whole persona has changed, for the good now, because he's no longer on top & knows he needs all the support he can get. In the past, he gave a rat's arse about anyone. I don't waste my energy hating him; I just do not want to see any prick be successful, especially when there are so many good guys on the tour now.

Yeah, I've heard he does a lot with veterans, with his father being one and growing up playing on the base golf course.

and thank you for your service, sir!
