Jack Nicklaus in his own words: "In 1930, there were perhaps ten golfers, pro or amateur, who might defeat Bob Jones when everything was right for them. After my first few years as a pro, there were maybe 30 guys who could beat me if I wasn’t playing my best. If I were out there today (1996), that number would be tripled."

agreed, same for forged blades

yeah I probably bit off more than I can chew when I purchased my most recent set of irons. At the time, I was in my last year of law school so I had a ton of free time to play and improve and was about a 7 handicap. But now that I've been practicing for 5 years, I don't have the time and sometimes wish I had bought something that was a little more forgiving. I don't have blades but close to it. This is what i use

You’d have to be at least 50 to remember much of jack’s career. I don’t remember it so the only thing I can say is that Tiger Woods is the best golfer I’ve ever seen. Both had ridiculous careers so it’s hard to say one is clearly more accomplished. Jack definitely has the edge in the longevity of his success and Tiger clearly had the higher peak with a bigger cultural impact. Both are legends.

I still play my 2012 Taylormade TP MB's and can't even look anything else now. They just look too chunky. I think I'll play blades until I can't handle them anymore.

This was pretty much my setup back in 2002 or so when I started playing (I'm 27 now.)

But I'll tell you what, the feel of a flushly hit drive with a wooden driver feels so much better and more gratifying than modern drivers by a long shot.

You are absolutely correct. I had an old forged Kenneth Smith 2 iron that my dad gave me too. Of course, I tried to hit a stinger with that club off the tee like Tiger

The best thing about those old clubs and that 2 iron blade is they give you instant feedback. If you hit them flush, the feeling is euphoric but my god when I missed with that 2 iron my hands hurt like a mother fricker

For a career, Jack
For a 10 year period, Tiger

Agree 100%. I def don't have the balls to carry a 2 iron blade in my bag

I just remembered I watched Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus play together at the 2000 PGA Championship. Tiger beat Jack easily so he actually proved he was better. I think that’s all the evidence needed.

Its clearly Jack.

Tiger was more dominant at his peak, but Jack has a much, much better career.

Jack not only has 18 majors (to Tigers 14), but he also has 19 runner-ups (Tiger has 6) and 56 top 5's (Tiger has a lot less, couldn't find number).

Tiger isn't done yet. Tiger has 15 or so tries until he reaches the age when jack won his last.

Yeah, this isn't over, but its close to over.

Tiger seems content with life right now and doesn't appear to have that crazy drive that led him to be so great. And for that, I say good for him. He's a billionaire with young kids, enjoy it.

it may be close, but IF he can stay healthy I think he wins another. Don't think he gets to 18, but I think he wins at least 1 more.

Not to mention Tiger has more total wins, a better winning percentage(even if you take out jacks tournaments late in his career), more consecutive cuts made, a lower adjusted scoring average, and more times money winner

Saying it is clear Jack had the better career is false.
