re: Who is the best college basketball player in the nation this year?

I wouldn't necessarily rate Olynyk higher than Pangos. They both compliment each other quite well. In the last game against Oklahoma State, Pangos went off for 18 in the first half. Olynyk scored all of his 21 in the second when Ok State keyed on Pangos. Add in Elias Harris, who is Gonzaga's most polished player, and Gonzaga is an efficient offensive machine.

I know this is Gonzaga's best team since Morrison but I still feel like they choke in March.
I find it funny that they haven't made the Elite 8 since that 1999 run. A bunch of hype and no results.

The team's that normally beat Gonzaga in the tournament normally go on to have great tournament runs.
Davidson
Ohio State last year
North Carolina 2009
UCLA 2006 (huge choke)
They're not necessarily overhyped, just not a great tournament team. Butler can make the finals twice by grinding out a 35 minute shot clock for forty minutes and playing games in the 50s.

I like Anthony Bennett and Michael Carter-Williams of guys who have not been mentioned yet.
I like those two along with McLemore
Another I'm going to toss out there, and there is a little hometown bias with this one, is Marcus Smart at Oklahoma State.
6'4" 225 lb. true freshman that is playing point guard for the Cowboys, playing almost 33 MPG, averaging 13.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 5.2 APG, 2.6 SPG and 1.2 BPG. Doesn't have quite a 3-point shot yet, but he is an exciting guy to watch

I liked what I saw from Smart against Gonzaga on Monday. He choked on his free throws down the stretch, but he kept the Cowboys in that game.

He'd dominate your boy JOB
Also, if he's so soft why does Nbadraft.net have him projected to be the first overall pick on the 2013 draft

His stats aren't that impressive, and their schedule has been pretty weak.
Not saying his stats suck, but if you really are in the player of the year race shouldn't you rank in the Top 25 in at least one category nationally? About all he is good for is drawing fouls.

Indiana is too much of a balanced team for him to put up big #s if he played for just about any other team he would be averaging 19-10
