Who here is okay with baseball players sliding into players

Either to break up a turn, or to maybe get the guy to miss the ball I think it's ok for a player to slide at another player. I know there's a chance the guy could get hurt but you take the risk of injury everytime you step on the field. You should do everything possible to win the game. And if the other guys dont like it they can throw at you the next time your up. I hate how baseball is trying to take away some of the gamesmanship that makes the game unique.

The point of baseball is to try and get a hit or make an out
It isnt to jam your metal spike into someones leg because your guy couldnt hit the ball where they arent

I mean if were ok with football, boxing and Mma and people are always talking about how they liked 80s and 90s basketball when people were more physical what the deal with baseball being the same way. In sports sometimes people get hurt. It's part of it.

I'm okay with not allowing a player to come in spikes up but to just slide at a player isn't that bad imo if you knock him down so what he can stand up and dust himself back off

As a guy that played when that was legal, it seems weird to have made such a big deal about this. As a former first baseman, I got spiked a frick ton as guys would run past and purposefully step on my ankle to break up the play. It was always just the way we played.
But...I think it benefits the game to take this part out. I played with a guy who played shortstop who was the fastest white guy I'd ever played sports with. He had a guy slide into his our junior year and hyper-extended his knee and caused some serious damage. He rehabbed it, but this was back in the late 80's so who knows what went into that. He was still fast, but that burst wasn't there anymore.
You don't need this in the game and removing it doesn't hurt anything and helps to prevent really unnecessary injuries.

They should have the to chance ram into the players to knock the ball out every single time to be safe or not instead of sliding. It would make baseball watchable. When you can play games back to back on the same day, that's not a sport
