A playoff would only fix the problems in the short term.

you mean the ones voted into office by an american electorate who by exercising the right to vote have determined the quality and philosophy of our legislators?

our government is only a mirror image of ourselves and is only as dysfunctional and agenda driven as the people who form it. you decide who is voted in...you decide who is voted out, so quit the bitching because you're only bitching at yourself.

Bowl tie ins are bullshite imo. Why should the big 10 and the pac 10 get to play each other every damn year?

How else would you rank them?

They use committees in other sports. Usually have some sort of power ranking (rpi) as one tool to help them select teams. Other than arguing about a team or two left out, most people are fine with how they select teams.

Basketball plays much more non conference games. It's easier to judge. Much easier. You can't do that with football. They would have to use a voting process to rank the teams preseason, during, and at the end to see who goes to the playoffs.

polls? Auto bids

Then they use committees. That's the same damn thing as using a poll

Nobody I voted for in Washington is on board with congress legislating college football playoffs. And based on your reply, I'm bitching at people like you, not not myself.

In addition, we don't elect people to congress to legislate college football anyway. I can't remember any congressional candidate mentioning college football playoffs in any of their election platforms.

Im fine with the BCS. Far from perfect but better than it use to be.

Atleast their is a trophy you can point to that was won on the field, unlike the 17 different orgs that schools would claim NC's from in the past

Plus, there's not as much spotlight on the FCS. How often is it even discussed? How many fans do these teams even have?

Then take the top four teams and at least play that out. Some form of playoff that takes the voting element out of the championship. I don't buy this got hot or lucky argument. For all you regular season lovers, what if a team just got hot for that game, does that not count? For a team to win three or four pressure-packed playoff games takes more than luck. The bowl/BCS system used to work when the football landscape was regional, but times have changed.

And I put that there is committee use. But, that's the same damn thing as using a poll.

If you think rankings during the season will go away, you are wrong. They will still be there and be used to choose the playoff teams.

Don't go changing the subject. You said it can't be done in football. It's done in the lower classifications. It's even done in high school.

Come on. I'm not changing the subject. I used football to refer to BCS conference football. You know that. Obviously it can be done in SOME conferences/divisions. I'm not saying it ouldn't be done. I'm saying committee votes are just as good as polls.

think the problem lies in the voting. How in the hell can you tell who is the top 25 teams? You can't. It's a bunch of bs.

you're a bunch of bs. the other divisions of college football have a playoff system that works quite well and could easily be implemented at the top level. bowl games are meaningless tea parties meant to enrich local economies...not to help decide who the real natcham is.
every sport with any integrity has playoffs...div1 college football, at this time, has no integrity.

So, who chooses the playoff teams?

I wouldn't care if they used the BCS formula to determine the teams. I just want more than a two team playoff.
