re: Which sports league has become the most pussified in recent years?

1) Walton and Johnston still exist?
2) It's insulting to thinking people of all political stripes, IMO.
3) (and this is relevant to the topic) the people who think that ANY pro sport has become "pussified" are clearly not insulted, and thus don't fall under #2.

NBA without a doubt. These superstars get touched on the arm during the shooting process and beg for a foul from a ref. They flop almost as much as soccer players in the world cup. Big case of pussyitis.

Because people pointed out why the pitcher waits an hour to bean the guy, waiting for his turn in the order, and you dismissed it in favor of imemdiate retaliation. Which would be beaning the next player
Absolutely not. Immediate retaliation would be for a player to confront a guy as he's disrespecting you(as I basically exactly stated in my reply to a guy saying the same thing youi're saying). Waiting til he is up next in the batting order would be the complete opposite of immediate retaliation. I disagreed with the notion that waiting an hour to bean the guy would give you a lesser suspension then confronting him as he's disprecting you. I may be wrong there, but that is what I disagreed with.
I just don't get how you think I said I was in favor of beaning the next player. I never remotely said that. I said get in the guys' face at the time he is disrespecting you.

since you advocated beanballs in your first post.
Can you show me the quote that says this?
Baloo, I know you're a smart dude, so I'm going to assume you just completely misread my comments here. My first post in this thread, again, is 100% completely the opposite of "advocating beanballs".
THe OP asked what sport is the most pussified, my first reply was to answer baseball because they retaliate by throwing at guys'heads. That basically means I HATE when they do that, so am completley against beanballs.
quote:
You made nothing clear
I truly fail to see how you think I'm in favor of hitting players. IMO, I made it painfully clear that I was absolutely against it. Obviously this may not be the case as you and one other seemed to completely miss my point here. But I honestly don't remotely see how that happened. Not being a dick, just being honest.

as your position keeps changing
Again...
Can you show the quotes where i have a changing position?
You can disagree with my position, no problem. Agree to disagree. But how can you possibly say my position "keeps changing"? It has stayed absolutely the same this entire thread.
I'm at a serious loss here, lol.
On and 1 more lol:
quote:
other than "baseball sucks"
Never said that. I like baseball. I hate the unwritten rules of baseball. one can like something without liking every aspect of it.

Ahh... see I read this...
... As mocking today's players for not being the same tough guys as the old guys like Bob Gibson or Bob Feller who would bean their own mothers. I thought you were being sarcastic and calling out modern players for being wussies, and then scrambled to change your viewpoint once people called you on it.
I misread that OP then. My apologies.

They still retaliate by throwing baseballs at guys' heads in MLB?
Then that is my answer, lol.

Damn, I did all that work for that. I coulda condenced that and still got you to understand my main point, lol.
I always respect your opinions, especially on baseball, pretty much more than any others on here.
So, I didn't wanna disappoint you, so I felt the need to really support my thoughts.

No, I appreciate it. It's hard to read tone, and I was working from an assumption of tone in your post. My sarcasm meter was off.

A few thoughts:
- While the NFL does continue to make pathetic rules favoring the QB's and take away some big hits, it seems to me that players today are more jacked up than ever before making the action and over all game play more intense.
- The NBA is by far the worst as far as most pussified. But it has always been that way and therefore has NOT become so in recent years.
-That leaves MLB. I don't think this is due to the rules as much as I believe its mostly because the players just don't care as much as they used too. I mean could you imagine the out cry these days if Pete Rose injured someone in an all-star game?

MLB is a wimp sport. Batters wear body armor and lean over the plate. 40 years ago Bob Gibson would have put the ball in your earhole for that nonsense.
