I've been watching the CFL for a long time and I've been watching a little bit of the new USFL. Even if you take into consideration the rules changes and the Canadian labor laws both leagues suck. I have to imagine that the USFL and spring leagues have taken away some talent from the CFL and the labor laws of the CFL allow some very poor football players in the CFL.

The CFL has fallen so far. It was a league that produced Warren Moon and Doug Flutie. The NFL should cut a deal with the CFL and Canadian government and put at least 2 or maybe 4 teams in Canada.

Well the CFL has been around since 1958

ETA: I was in Vancouver when they had a home game scheduled. Their downtown area was happening on game day and their fans seemed to really support the team.

Don’t know much about CFL. How the labor laws impact the league?

I like em both

Rules-wise, USFL is more like the NFL, so I’ll go with them

CFL has produced a lot of NFL players through the years, a definite pipeline into the NFL.

Your story is one of the reasons why I think the NFL should have placed a team in Canada long ago, like the NBA did.

I love the CFL. It’s kind of this quirky league that keeps on keeping on.

I had season tickets for almost a decade, it was an absolute blast in my 20s to go and watch football and get drunk in the middle of summer.

The CFL has Canadian roster laws. There are limits to the number of non-Canadians you can have on the roster. Canadian labor laws support that. It would be as if American teams in MLB couldn't have too many non-Americans on the roster. An artificial barrier on the quality of play.

3 people running toward the line of scrimmage at the snap and punting on 3rd down because there is no 4th down is NOT football, it is what it is.

cfl has been around longer but i still rather watch regular football of any kind

Some European basketball leagues do the same. Some federations do some sketchy stuff: they’ll approach an American player and offer to give them citizenship. Mutually beneficial: they play for the National team and are now considered “European” so they have more job opportunities now. Bo McCalebb, black dude from New Orleans, became Macedonian

I would support this.

Remember when Billy Joe Tolliver was the starting quarterback for the CFL's Shreveport Pirates, then took over QB1 for the New Orleans Saints the next season? The 90s were the best timeline.

Can you blame Canadians for wanting to watch Canadians?

They don't have limits on the Blue Jays, Raptors, Maple Leafs, Canadiens, Jets, Canucks, Oilers, Flames, and, Senators and they watch a lot of non-Canadians. As I said the CFL has declined in play the last decade or so. Eventually, the NFL will work out a deal to put teams in Toronto and Vancouver and Montreal.

Can't believe it's that low. Some teams get 50,000 for a game and they have a Canadian TV contract worth a few million Canadian. The minimum salary for MLS is $65,000

It’s been raised to half American in past decade. I think 20 US and 21 natural players. It’s a collectively bargained thing. So the players seem okay with it.
