now realize the baseball game is on network TV in prime time, the NFL game is not

If the baseball game was national, it would still get absolutely curbstomped by the NFL game.

Consider this...the first Thursday night game of the NFL season drew 14 million viewers.

quote:

There was also the fact that the game was going up against a Democratic primary debate on ABC and Univision, a three-hour broadcast that drew 14 million viewers to win the night overall.

Those 14 million viewers for a poorly played Thursday night game are about on par with the viewership numbers for the fricking WORLD SERIES.

Year Net. Results Avg. Game 1 Game 2 Game 3 Game 4 Game 5 Game 6 Game 7
2018 Fox Boston Red Sox 4,
Los Angeles Dodgers 1

8.2/16
(13.761 M

8.1/15

7.9/18

7.9/16

10.0/18

No Game

So unfortunately, this is a bad thread and you should feel bad.

Embarrassing.

No doubt the NFL is more popular but comparing one baseball game (out of 162 for each team and however many other baseball games were on that night) to one football game (out of only 16 for each team and no other football games on that night) isn't all that meaningful.

It was a decent question regarding a unique situation. It was actually much closer than I would’ve guessed.

Two bad NFL teams.

One random regular season NFL game has exponentially more meaning than one random MLB regular season game. It's 16 vs. 162.

And because NFL is exponentially more entertaining than MLB.

I wonder what the excuse will be when one random NFL game kicks the shite out of a playoff MLB game.

Random NFL regular season games have also done better than WS games

Largest watched baseball game in 2018 was game 5 of the WS (17.88mm viewers)

Giants -Saints week 4 got 20.69mm viewers

Had to remove the NFL so MLB could participate.

I love the MLB.
I love all sports really. Each of the big pro ones in the USA

I’m not dissing the MLB because I dislike it
But the closest thing to touch the NFL among year sports (i mean that taking out the Olympics) is College football

This country loves football more than anything and the NFL is king

I like MLB too. I’m just messing around. But there are way too many games. I always start the season watching a lot of games but i always just lose interest.

We had a friend that was a starting pitcher so we would watch that team religiously. Then he started sucking and got traded so we don’t watch anymore.
