Les's play calling led to a 114-34 record, so he was a winner and had one of the greatest winning percentages in LSU history.
This is a great example of a misattribution of causation.
LSU had a 114-34 record despite the play calling of Les miles, not because of it. That record is almost entirely a product of defense, elite athletes, special teams.
LSU's record would have been better, not worse, if someone other than Les Miles ran the offense.

LSU had that winning percentage because of Les, he recruited the players, he coached the players, he did what he needed. It may not have been pretty but he was effective.
LSU had never experienced a run like Les led so to say someone else could have done it is ignorant at best.

Used to think that before a guy with a binder showed up

I saw he and his wife at a softball game. His youngest daughter is a senior at Naples High. She is committed to UCF to play softball.

but as our head coach he had zero respect for the fan base thinking it was cute with all that mindless drivel he spewed when he spoke.
I’m sure the feeling was mutual… he did win a title in year 3 and took LSU back four years later. Sounds like he needed more respect than he got from the Rant

So you give all the credit to recruiting, staff hires, and coaching delegation - but don't think the head football coach had anything to do with any of that? Only the disappointments, none of the success, right?
Guess it really is just the out of control boosters and bagmen who put everything into place for LSU coaches. As the Bayou Burns.

Last 3 coaches won a NC at LSU. Les backed into that game against Oklahoma, but it did count so he deserves the credit. LSU head football coach is a great job to have in a state where basically we're the only game in town. As for respect, Les was mostly a miserable coach who made games not fun to watch.

So if you hated he was the coach then you hated the greatest period of LSU football ever, which is fricking sad when you think about it.
LSU won a lot of those games on sheer talent. Imagine how many more games and championships would have been won had he gotten out of the way and let a real OC do his job

LSU hired world class recruiters under Les and Les recruited that talent....so you want to bash him to for the offense but yet praise him for the recruits he vrought on campus.

Absolutely. They could have been soooo much better. I liked Les and the job he did but there was so much potential to be even better. Les did not change with the times and innovate the offense - he is at fault for that. Had he not been so stubborn with the offense, he might still be here and you and I wouldn't be having this discussion

Typical ranter logic from a typical ranter.
