Mantle 110 WAR

Jeter 67 WAR

Their different in WAR equals Don Mattingly’s career. Who was a 6x all star & league mvp

Mantle as a player was worth as much as Jeter & Mattingly combined. He was that good

And Babe Ruth at 183 WAR as a player was worth as much as Mantle & Jeter combined. Although that wasn't all as a Yankee.

From 1949 to 1960 the Yankees dominated baseball more than any other team in sports history.

Mantle finished top 5 in mvp votes 9 times, won 3 of them. Jeter never won an mvp, finished top 5 only 3 times

Jeter led the league in hits 2 times, runs once. Mantle led the league in runs 5x, home runs 4x, walks 5x, batting average 1x, OBP 3x, slugging 4x

This isn’t close.

I won’t dispute that. But 49-60 was harder to win than the 20’s.

He's every bit the player Mantle was without the booze.

Get the frick out of here with that bullshite.

#1, it wasn't the booze that ruined Mantle's career. It was the fact that he played an entire career with no knees.

#2, there are people that believe that Mickey Mantle is the greatest player to ever play the game. I wouldn't go that far as he never quite lived up to his potential due to his injuries. But he's about 20-30 spots ahead of Derek Jeter in the all time great category at least.

50-60 probably.

And that's not really a knock on Jeter.

Maybe.

I agree with your second point there. I was telling my brothers yesterday that Jeter being a top-10 Yankee of all time means that with every other franchise he's easily top-5 or top-3 should he have played his entire career in a different uniform.

Hot take: Derek Jeter is overrated and a 6 part documentary on him is a joke.

He wouldn't be top 3 for only a few franchises.

Very much agree with this.

They're going to try and "Last Dance" this when he doesn't even come close to the celebrity/cultural phenomenon that Michael Jordan was. His name doesn't carry a quarter of the weight that MJ's does.
