Asking you what you think or would want the pre-determined criteria to be is in no way shape or form a stupid question.
That isn't what you asked.
Here is what you asked:

What should the pre-defined criteria entail?

The only reason why any of you are bitching is because this is a rival school that's doing all of this. That alone invalidates your argument.
Wrong.

The playoff d like would have been using the current NCAA Bylaws covering championships
Conference reps picked by each conference based on what they commit to before the season starts
First round games be campus sites
NY6 and other big bowls be the 2nd round on
Independents can gain entry only by committee
No limit on teams in Conferences
Using last years Committee rankings and Bylaws of NCAA
Auto Qualifiers:
AAC: Central Florida
ACC: Clemson
B1G: tOSU
BIG XII: OU
CUSA: FAU
MAC: Toledo
MWC: Boise
PAC: USC
SEC. UGA
SBC: Troy
At-Large Selections:
Alabama
Wisconsin
Auburn
Penn St
Miami
Washington
Stanford
Notre Dame
TCU
Michigan St
LSU
Wazzu
Oklahoma St
Memphis
Northwestern
The Bracket would have been this
LSU @ Michigan St, winner plays Clemson
Toledo @ Penn St, winner plays USC
Memphis @ Stanford, winner plays Alabama
Boise @ UCF, winner plays Ohio St
Wazzu @ TCU, winner plays Oklahoma
FAU @ Miami, winner plays Auburn
Memphis @ Notre Dame, winner plays Georgia
Troy @ Washington, winner plays Wisconsin
Before you complain about terrible games in round 1, there are pitiful games in every opening round of a seeded tournament

What do you think or what do you want want the pre-determined criteria to be?

The last two B1G teams to make the playoff both got shut out.

Under the current structure, or do I get control of that, too?

Current structure as far as the conferences and their divisions go.
I doubt those are changed anytime soon.

I guess you could add all division winners and if conference doesn’t have divisions let conference decide how they want to be repped. That seems fair, to me.

Yes it’s a percentage of teams involved in the sport

The only way you can do 12 I think is let conference determine its lone rep then 2 at larges based on committee. If that happened I think Independents will say screw this and we will be back to lawsuits that UGA and OU filed in 80’s

The current structure is garbage for determining a national champion, so we might as well just do champions for the Power Four and then the next two highest ranked from the rest based on a heavily modified BcS formula.

ETA: Army and Navy can join CUSA, Notre Dame will be fine or they should join the Big 10 or ACC, and BYU can wait until they pass away, they'll be a god of their own planet and then they can set their playoff however they want.

Oh, and just to be a jerk, Northwestern looks like the first one out instead of being the last one in on your list.

I think we can all agree that if this current dynasty Alabama is in the midst of were happening at LSU, you'd be defending LSU's inclusion in the rematch in 2011 and in the playoffs last year.
LSU wouldn't have gotten a rematch in 2011, so no. Every LSU fan I know knows this and would have accepted a trip to the Sugar Bowl had we lost to Bama on the road in 2011. That is how it was supposed to work when "every game counts".

You must not have been posting here when the Media was working to change the rules in 2003 so another darling, USC, could "win" despite not meeting the expectations of the system laid out at the time. You know, not enough quality wins. We had to change that too...
Thus the point of the thread.

They are I miscounted before doing the bracket. I forgot Boise needed to a lot in at 20 instead of 24 initially
