I would draft any position in the first round if the player warranted the pick.

Very few teams have a bell cow running back most use a rotation. He would have to be an AD talent IMO to rate a 1st round pick. Guards are a dime a dozen.

other than a kicker? probably fullback. the position is a lot less important in most NFL offenses today than it used to be.

RB. The only way I draft a RB in the first round is if he's a special talent or if I have a really strong team in all other areas ala the Patriots in the early to mid 2000s. It's just way too easy to find a good RB in the later rounds to take one in the first round.

It appears a good bit of people would take a punter over a RB in the first round. Future GMs for the Raiders in this thread.

Kickers are excluded in this scenario.

Nobody ever takes a punter in the first round. And if we're talking about all positions, I would say that the long snapper is a much more disposable position than punter.

I think I might ad FB and long snappers to the OP as being excluded.

If there was some freak of nature kicker who could kick 70 yarders and was 95% accurate, I would draft him in the first round. There is no never.

I still don't think you would.
