shouldn't he be great at baseball first?

Right. He only leads all of baseball in HRs while posting a 2.10 ERA and 14 Ks/9 as a SP.

Baseball is the hardest sport. With so much talent, he’s exactly where he should be.

Meh the nature of the game doesn’t lend itself to prioritizing one player that much. The NBA is all about individual brand names and a NFL team’s success can come down to their QB and Offensive tackles.

Not the case in baseball.

He doesn't play for the Yankees or Dodgers.

Absolutely.

The only reason I know who this guy is is because I have seen him play against the Astros. He should be a household name.

Completely disagree.

Baseball is as much or more of an individual sport because of the value and focus placed on player statistics. The nature of the game is inherently individualistic — one player at bat, one player on the mound.

Baseball just does a bad job of marketing their good players, and they’ve been that way for at least 20 years. My wife doesn’t watch basketball but knows who most of the top players are; conversely, she couldn’t name one MLB player. I get that baseball has become very regionalized, but they need to embrace traditional and non-traditional marketing mediums and market their stars better than they do.
