I was coming here to say the Blues, but not in nearly as compelling a way as Baloo did.

I don't remember what thread it was, but I outlined the pros of rooting for the teams most often appearing on American TV. The Wild weren't on that list, which tells you how much you would see them.

The Wild suck. They have sucked since coming into being and worse yet, they've been boring. They've been stuck playing awful trapping hockey because, honestly, they've lacked the talent to compete straight up with anyone except for their fellow bottom dwellars.

So... this offseason, the Wild got the idea to buy a title and they gave Ryan Suter and Zach Parise matching massive contracts. The NHL then went into a lockout and pointed to those two contracts as the reason why the system is broken. So the Wild are a bad team that tried to buy a title and then tried to rig the rules that no one could match what they did.

I hope a fricking meteor hits their front office. Minnesota is a hockey hotbed, and they deserve a better representative than a team that makes me want to puke.

I'm pretty sold on them the more I have read. They have solid players, a badass logo/color scheme and don't seem to be a bandwagon team like the Red Wings or Rangers.

Maybe the Ducks should move to Minnesota and make things right with the world?

On the Canadian issue, every American hockey fan should casually root for one Canadian team, preferably in the opposite conference of your favorite team. But following a Canadian team fanatically is really hard because they will rarely be on TV. And even if you get GameCenter, they black out the commercials, which makes an odd viewing experience. You think commercials are annoying, wait until you stare at a blue screen which reads COMMERCIAL BREAK.

TJ Oshie is awesome, when he's not drunk. Actually, he's awesome at hockey when he's not drunk. He's still pretty awesome in general when he's drunk.

NBC isn't aware there are games played that do not involve the Penguins. Becoming a hockey fan right now and rooting for the Pens is like becoming a new NBA fan and rooting for the Heat.

You can do it, but no one will like you. Not even Penguin fans.

I stopped watching after ESPN dropped them and the strike happened but I pulled for the Flyers before that.

Lindros was a beast before the concussions...

So what your saying is I can be a Blues fan and casually pull for the Maple Leafs since they are in different divisions? I think my allegiance might have just been formed barring a better argument from someone else.

sure. I like the Caps/Flames split because I can tune into the opening faceoff of the Flames game right as the Caps game is ending. That way, I can watch two blowout losses in the same night.

I do pretty much root for a Canadian team to win the Cup once the Caps are out. If the Caps can't win, I'd rather the Cup go to Canada. Which hasn't happened in a long time.
