so you think Bo Jackson, in his prime, is less athletic than some dude that can win the Boston Marathon?
A different type of athletic yes. Both supreme athletes. And it isn't like "any dude" can win the Boston Marathon. The fact that the last twenty winners or so are all from the Nile River Delta attests to the fact that some of that endurance ability is innate.

I think we can all agree that the term "athleticism" is not easily defined....
It's just that one type of athleticism is more valued than the other. They can be defined fairly easily.

I help with my old HS team after work a few days a week and coach a team of 11-12 year olds with a couple old HS teammates who played elsewhere in college.
ETA: it's like a youth select travel team, which is super fun to coach because they care a lot about it and are actually good.
Very cool man. We might know each other then.

some of the most fun I've had around the sport was coaching. it was awesome.

Bo Jackson,
Well since you brought it up, there's also this (mis)conception in this country that "athletic" means big and black.
Somebody had to go there.

your sport will suffer from a public interest standpoint if the main selling point is that the players have to run a lot...seriously, no one really cares.
Posted on 4/23/15 at 12:51 pm to Chicken
that's not a selling point, genius, it was an argument over athleticism

Apparently, some people do.

sorry, that wasn't part of the athleticism argument...that was just me putting your sport down.
I was hoping I would learn something about lacrosse that would spur my interest, but, alas, it didn't happen.
This has been fun...

What is the board's opinion on lacrosse?
Isn't that where the Saints held their camp for a couple of years in the 90's?

I've been a football fan all of my life. My son was a football player in high school but also played lacrosse in the spring. I grew to love the sport.
Fast paced, eye/hand coordination is a must, still don't know all of the rules but from a spectator standpoint, aside from football my second favorite sport to watch is lacrosse. As far as fans and parents......baseball parents are the worst, lacrosse parents are the best, with football parents in between. I've been all three.

My concept of an athletic person is basically somebody that can sprint and jump. I played baseball and basketball in high school. Some positions in baseball can get away without being very athletic. Some first basemen, third basemen, and some outfielders that can drive the ball can be skilled but not all that athletic.
Where I live, lacrosse is mainly played by kids that can't cut it in other sports. I know that isn't the case in a lot of other areas.

And most posters take pride in it, too.

it's the Louisiana way. take pride in having no original opinions and regurgitating shite their parents told them.
