that's just a very southern opinion. it's huge in Texas and is arguably the biggest sport in the northeast.

i never tried to argue that all baseball players are as athletic as lacrosse players...just like I wouldn't argue that all football players are athletic as lacrosse players...but there are baseball and football players that possess athleticism that is on par or exceeds that of a lacrosse player.
for someone to say that a lacrosse player is 10x more athletic than a baseball outfielder or middle infielder is laughable...

Yeah midwest is big in lacrosse. I started playing because when I visited columbus my cousins would be playing it. They played for UA and Dublin Jerome.

Never seen it played.
Know zero about it.

keep moving the goalposts. now it's "some baseball players are as athletic."

The only good thing about it is it helped get Mick Foley into wrestling.

The guys look incredibly athletic.

You obviously know nothing about lacrosse.
The simple fact is that a baseball player just doesn't NEED to be athletic to be really good at baseball (even though they may be).
You pretty much NEED to be pretty athletic to be decent at lacrosse.

what do you mean "now"? I said that exact thing in my original statement...no?
Posted on 4/23/15 at 11:02 am to Chicken
correct. got you mixed up.
I'd say on the whole, infielders and outfielders are not more athletic. maybe guys like andrelton or trout but not the majority. the majority, if not all, lacrosse players are ridiculously well conditioned and have ridiculous reflexes. I'd put Ben Williams from Syracuse against anyone in terms of super fast reflexes. he's got quicker hands than anyone I've seen.

Where I am from...if you are athletic you play lacrosse.
It's not, if you are athletic you play baseball.

Played in high school. One of the funnest sports to play.

I know very little about lacrosse except what I have watched on TV...seems like it might be fun to play, but it is barely watchable on TV. and not much better in person (unless you are watching your kid play, I am sure).
I am sure they are in great shape, but anyone can get in shape. so that isn't too impressive.
I am sure it is difficult to play goalie in lacrosse but it isn't any more difficult than trying to hit a fast ball in baseball...and the entire baseball team has to hit...not just one person on the team.
I truly believe that most baseball players would have no problem being successful lacrosse players whereas a much smaller % of lacrosse players could be successful baseball players...

Dude, I don't even disagree with your above post. But again, NONE of that supports your assertion that baseball players are more athletic than lacrosse players. In fact, it basically supports my argument that baseball = skill sport and lax = some combo of skill and athleticism.
To me, athleticism = NFL Combine type stuff. That's obviously more of a requirement for lax than it is for baseball and it's not close. Explosiveness, acceleration, top end speed, strength, balance.

I guess your definition of athleticism is less multi-dimensional than mine...and we can leave it at that...
Posted on 4/23/15 at 11:23 am to Chicken
No, mine is quite multi dimensional. Yours, however, is not. Strength, explosiveness, top end speed, endurance, agility, all exclusive of sport specific skill, will get you pretty far in most sports, but not baseball (if you don't have the skill). Because those aren't necessarily required for baseball.
I do agree that a pitcher or DH have a very specific, skill based type of athleticism, but it doesn't transfer over to any other sport very well.
You're confusing sport specific skill, for general athleticism.

Because those aren't necessarily required for baseball.
As I said at the very beginning, middle infielders and outfielders have to possess everything you typed outside of endurance, but endurance is overrated. Do you think the winner of the Boston Marathon is super athletic?
Have you been close to college or pro baseball players recently? do they not look strong to you? Have you timed them to see what their top end speed is?
Me thinks your opinion of baseball might have been formed watching little leaguers...

SOME baseball players are incredibly athletic. I already said that. However, it's not required if you have the right skill set.
In a very specific sense, just like a pitcher or DH, or a place kicker.
Yes. I had plenty of activity based classes with them in college. Some were super athletic, some were hopelessly unathletic, some were in between.
