Wisconsin’s schedule has been hot garbage, but I don’t see a way they’re left out. The next few weeks will tell us a bit about whether they’re for real or not with games against Iowa and Michigan.

I still think they’ll get trucked in the B1G CG by the winner of Michigan State and Ohio State.

It's not their fault the B1G rotation fell this way, either. They avoid OSU/PSU/MSU in the reg season and Michigan sucks. Iowa was pretty much in the same situation two years ago and everyone was cool with it if they got in, although I'm guessing the competition for spots wasn't quite as fierce.

Why would Bama get in in this scenario? They won't have a good resume and also won't have a conference title. Their resume will have Auburn and who? maybe Miss. St. and maybe LSU? Wisconsin will have the B1G east winner and potentially Iowa and Michigan, and would have won the conference.

The committee uses conference titles, head-to-head, etc. when they deem two teams to be close to equal.

They don't necessarily use those criteria to determine the quality of each team. They also use metrics, eye test, etc. It's obviously very subjective.

If someone acts as if it would be crazy for the committee to put Alabama in the playoff after a close loss to the #1 team in the country means that person probably doesn't fully understand the committee and their process. This isn't some formula. They can do whatever they think puts the four best teams in the playoff.

ETA:

quote:

The selection committee ranks the teams based on the members’ evaluation of the teams’ performance on the field, using conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and comparison of results against common opponents to decide among teams that are comparable.

Sentence structure is your friend. "The selection committee ranks the teams based on the members' evaluation of the teams' performance on the field..."

The rest of that stuff comes into play when teams are comparable. They can evaluate a team's performance on the field however they want.

Oh, my mistake. Did Ohio State drop to three games out for their division? I missed it.

Y'all would be there if y'all played in the SEC West.

I could barely type that with a straight face.

I've been out of town for a while. How bad did Ohio State lose to Iowa?

Would be fun. Maybe we should swap with LSU. I know we wouldn't lose seven in a row.

in both scenarios, on the surface, it would seem they get left out. But I really believe that when push comes to shove, they would keep Georgia out in both of those cases.

Scenario 1....maybe. But I think UGA would get in over Clemson.

Scenario 2, I'm extremely confident UGA gets on over a 1 loss OU or TCU.

That's not true, a lot of people were calling them out for their crap schedule. I vividly remember debating Notre Dame's resume vs. Iowa's resume when Notre Dame's only loss was at Clemson by 2 in a damn tropical storm.

The way the Big 10 is circling the wagon here is as bad as the fans who chant SEC. Outside of Ohio State and Michigan State the past few seasons, the Big 10 is a bunch of frauds.

None of this matters anyway, because even if Wisconsin makes it to the Big 10 championship, it will be another 2014 game.

The Big 10 got 3 bowl teams in last year.
FSU was a 9 win team

The Big 10 got 3 bowl teams in 2015.
Ole Miss was a 9 win team.

SEC could get 3 teams in this season especially with how close the Cotton Bowl is to LA. They would want to sell tickets and know LSU fans would show up.

Clemson would have NINE wins over Power 5 teams that will be bowl eligible.

They won't be kept out. The argument is between Wisconsin, SEC Champ loser, and Big 12 winner.
