What did the Cowboys do to break Drew Brees and the Saints offense? It was never the same

Through the 1st 11 games of the season and going into the Dallas game, Brees had completed 76.4% of his passes, had a passer rating of 127.3, and was averaging 285 passing yards and 2.6 TDs per game. He had thrown just 2 INTs in 356 total passing attempts. That was a season pace of 4,560 yards, 42 TDs and just 3 INTs
The Saints offense was cruising, averaging 37.2 points and 417 yards a game.
Then they went into Dallas and played the Cowboys. The offense and Drew Brees struggled and they lost a game they should have easily won.
The Saints scored just 10 points, (almost 4 TDs below their season average and gained a season low 176 yards on offense, (over 240 yards below their average). Brees threw for just 127 yards and completed a season low 64% of his passes
Neither Drew Brees or the Saints offense looked the same after that.
From the Dallas game on, through the playoffs, Brees played at a 16 game season pace of 3,744 yards, 18 TDs, 11 INTs with a passer rating of 88.7. That 88.7 passer rating would be good for 27th in the NFL.
The Saints offense averaged just 22 points and gained an average of 316 yards per game.
What in the hell did Jason Garrett and Rod Marinelli do to the Saints?

It was the falcons that figured the saints out

It was the falcons and also the refs

They showed that a decent pass rush against a banged up or make-shift OL can have success against an offense with only 2 real weapons. It's really not that hard to figure out.

Wasn't the Cowboys. It was the refs.

Saimts moved the ball at ease in the 1st half against the Falcons, (didnt punt, gained over 200 yards of offense and had 3 scoring drives of at least 58 yards) and were up 24-3 in the 3rd quarter. After that score, the Falcons figured the Saints out but the game was basically decided
Dallas is the team that broke them. 4 straight punts to open the game and just 58 total yards in the 1st hald. Saints had 3 drives of that length against the Falcons in the 1st half of their game

Did you watch the falcons game? Brees was not his usual self

I found the Saints line didn’t look nearly as good the last 4-5 games
First time Rams played we never touched Brees, hit good pressure yesterday

It all starts with the Oline. Armstead was injured, and Peat really struggled.

I’ve wondered if Brees hurt his shoulder at some point. A lot of throws were coming up short later in the season.

I think that teams concentrated on getting pressure up the middle on Brees. This kept him from stepping up into the pocket, where he can be deadly. Teams decided to try to force him to move to the side, because they knew that he wasn't a major scrambling threat. Also, it became obvious in the final weeks that Drew was struggling with some throws, especially deep balls. It was clear that Drew was often uncomfortable and seemed to occasionally lack confidence in some situations. As some have speculated, there may have been some issues with Drew that the Saints were mum about.
