i missed what was wrong with this
the "controversial" part is "us beating the shite out of the dude that beat you doesn't undo the pain of getting beaten, so take preventative steps not to be beaten"
same shite as "take basic safety precautions to avoid getting raped" if you ask me -- it's not about "blaming" victims for being victimized, it's about encouraging prevention rather than relying solely on punishing the perp after the fact, because punishing the perp doesn't fix the damage the crime did
but of course the social justice warriors at ESPN are gonna whine and spin and cry about it
that all said, it's still pretty dumb, because short of "don't date assholes" there's not really a lot to be done that's "preventative" here, and he didn't even say that much. but that just means he's shite at explaining himself which is typical for SAS, not that he was blaming victims. smh

“We know you have no business putting your hands on a woman. I don’t know how many times I got to reiterate that. But as a man who was raised by women, see I know what I’m going to do if somebody touches a female member of my family. I know what I’m going to do, I know what my boys are going to do. I know what, I’m going to have to remind myself that I work for the Worldwide Leader, I’m going to have to get law enforcement officials involved because of what I’m going to be tempted to do. But what I’ve tried to employ the female members of my family, some of who you all met and talked to and what have you, is that again, and this what, I’ve done this all my life, let’s make sure we don’t do anything to provoke wrong actions, because if I come, or somebody else come, whether it’s law enforcement officials, your brother or the fellas that you know, if we come after somebody has put their hands on you, it doesn’t negate the fact that they already put their hands on you. So let’s try to make sure that we can do our part in making sure that that doesn’t happen.”
There is absolutely nothing wrong with what he is saying.

I don't know what smith is exactly trying to say but it sounds like he did a piss poor job of stealing Bill Burr's bit on domestic violence and trying to make it serious.

I can't follow what the hell he's saying. Geez that's bad. These Twitter battles we see are so pathetic.

There is nothing offensive in there.
Insinuating that the we should also not forget the woman's role in getting herself beat up is a pretty stupid stance.

Basically the responses to Beadle and about here are:
Whitey trying to keep a good brutha down again.
Whitey trying to keep a good brutha down again.

Don't see anything wrong with that. He's basically saying that women shouldn't take advantage of the "don't hit a woman" mentality and use it to their advantage, knowing physical retaliation won't happen. Pretty sound point to me.

Wow. Does everyone in this thread really believe that Women should have to go out of their way to make sure they don't provoke a man into beating them? You really think that when a woman gets beat by an abusing maniac that it's partially her fault?
