First time I've actually laid eyes on him. Never thought he'd look like this: Tapit at Gainesway

he's white, but considered gray by breeding standards.

Where is the Into Mischief news segment?
Posted on 11/21/20 at 6:31 pm to tigerpawl
He is a grey, as they get older they whiten up. We have bred to him twice. Sold one for $300k. Have his full little brother was born this year. He is one of the best sires ever.
They tend to be mean. That’s the fire that he throws in his foals.

It’s insane the amount of money it costs to breed to a stallion like that. Imagine being lucky enough to make that kind of money just breeding a horse.

Horses live into the 30’s. Regardless after a few weeks I’d be good. Lmao

We have sold about 18 babies and flipping mares for about $4mil plus. in 9 years. started off cheap learn what billionaires want to buy. Figured out a few secrets of how great mares are produced and reinvested til we got to the top of stallion ranks.
Breeding to Medaglia D’oro and Quality Road this year. We have won 31 stakes races. Won in Japan and all over the US.
You have EVERYTHING insured or you will not sleep trust me. But it is exciting a frick to what your babies run. And you get breeders awards after you sell the babies as much as 20% of what the babies make. Also a great tax shelter.

That’s cool as shite. Big racing fan. Probably gonna buy a horse at some point in the next few years.

Buy a filly (girl). she has residual value and can be sold as a broodmare. Look for a filly that is big 16.2 hands are bigger. look for a filly that is half to at least 2 graded horses. try to buy off the track as you have to competition. At a sale it’s you against the other thousand people there.
cannot tell you more than that but good luck. also make sure you get a Equine CPA to help with your taxes. went from getting $2k back to getting 30k back. save every receipt you get during the year from everything. the CPA will make heads or tales for you.
been to Turffentine in S Africa, Singapore turf club, eagle farm in Australia, Hipodromo in Peru and Royal Ascot in England. we have the bug bad

I’ve heard that breeders can get a cut of purse but never understood how it works. Is it based on the stud/breeding contract or the law of the state where the race is run? Other?
Posted on 11/21/20 at 9:38 pm to Twenty 49
Of your horse run in a race you get 20% of 1st thru 3rd purse at 20%
We won a 150k stakes race. Winner get 60% 90k. We got 18k in breeders award that one race.
1st place get 60% of the purse, 2nd place get 20% of the ourse, 3rd place get 10% of the purse. The breeder gets 20% of that number. Most of our were Louisiana breeds. Each state is different. Kentucky is 10% of the purse for 1st place. So wherever you foal you babies dictates that.
We won breeder of the year & broodmare of the year. National average for stakes horses is 10%, we are at 70%. Again have gave away 50% of our secret sauce. The answer is ann & Nancy Wilson.

Thank you for sharing. Cool stuff.
Your thoughts on Into Mischief?
Posted on 11/21/20 at 11:29 pm to Winston Cup
Into mischief. He is bred to 250 mares a year. The market is flooded with them---- is your baby #1 or number $250.
He is small if your mare is not 16.2 hand. The physical matchup is not good.
Math is the determining factor.

My grandpa was a trainer, albeit not a good one, but he always said the mare makes the horse. What’s your thoughts, you lean toward the stallions or the mares lineage?
Posted on 11/22/20 at 7:26 am to diat150
Stallions gets 100-250 mares--if he gets 15 good ones in a year he's a boss. Mares you get 1 chance each year. The window is smaller. That's why you have to get all the boxes checked when buying a mare. Size, confirmation, length, walk,etc..etc..
We have 2 mares 1 is 16.3 hands, the other 17.2 hand. The second one is bigger than 99% of the Stallions in the USA. She ran 1.21 in 7f. For that size-thats unheard of. That's why we paid a small ransom for her. She had a Pioneer of the Nile weanling, Bred to Candy Ride and next to Medaglia D oro.
Its cool how your grandfather passed his passion onto you. You either get the bug or you don't.
I could talk horses anytime, anywhere over business.
Take a trip to Lexington to see the farms, food is great, scenery beautiful, and it is where you get your PHD for the horse business.
