Not sure who saw this.......but an 8 year old boy patted Westbrook on the back when he went out of bounds.

Westbrook after the game with reporters acted like he was punched by a 6'11 300 pound grown man.

And ESPN is defending him, blasting the kid and the dad for being "entitled"! WTH???

Screw You Westbrook.

Don't enter the area of play and don't touch any of the players, coaches or refs.

Russell Westbrook took exception to a young Nuggets fan making contact with him in the third quarter of Tuesday night’s game.

Westbrook briefly chatted with the boy and his father who were seated courtside, and told reporters that fans are given far too much leeway with players. “He hit me,” Westbrook said, “So I told his dad, ‘be careful, man, you can’t have your son just hitting random people. I don’t know him, he don’t know me. So, just letting him know, ‘You’ve just got to control your kids.’”

At the end of the conversation, Westbrook gave the young fan a reassuring pat on the leg. Westbrook said at first he didn’t know who had touched him. He just felt contact.

“For all fans though, there’s too much leeway for the fans to be able to touch the players and get away with it, and then you can’t react and do the things that we need to do to protect ourselves. … But I can’t do nothing. What am I going to do, hop in the stands? But there has to be some type of rule or some type of boundaries set that you can’t allow that.”

Yes, and I immediately made it clear his actions aren't appropriate. His dad sat there with his thumb up his arse and said nothing, so Russ handled it. If his dad would have handled it immediately, Russ would have moved on. He even waited for a second, but dad never moved.

What if the dad didn't see what happened? Dad looks up & Westbrook is focused on his kid for some reason..

A star struck kid simply pats you on the back( shouldn't touch the players I know) . Just Get over yourself Westbrook.

Spot on.

Russ made a great point and handled it well. The kid doesn't know any better because his dad is a do-nothing idiot.

If that had been in OKC it would have qualified as a pat on the back with no problem. I saw this at the gym this am and thought it was no issue then and still dont.

This is the equivalent of high fiving on the way out of the locker room

You guys know arena security came down and told them not to touch the players, right?

You're right, it's not a huge deal, and yet, it never happens outside of a player falling into the stands. With as many inbounds plays as there are in a typical basketball game, you would think it would happen more if its not that big of a deal. But it doesn't, b/c the people that sit down there know its not appropriate. It's not appropriate for a kid either, and its his dad's job to make that clear.

Nobody got punched, or screamed at, or escorted out. But the kid and his dad needed to be taught the lesson.
