John Henry flew to KC to meet with Devers face to face
Would love to be a fly on the wall for that convo

Devers needs some interview training.

Does he? I just think its ridiculous that Boston signed Bregman without almost no communication with the guy they signed to a massive long term deal. This is a full on fumble by the Red Sox organization.
Sure, Devers could be more accommodating but at the same time its clear he signed his contract with certain expectations and its inappropriate to just reneg on those conversations so quickly.
He accepted his move to DH and now its obvious they want him to eventually be the 1B. Why not have that conversation BEFORE signing Bregman?
Why is your guy on a 10-yr/$300M+ deal taking a backseat to a guy on a 3 year deal with opt outs? What is the Red Sox plan to be competitive again?
This is mismanagement 100%.

Well I mean they are only asking him to play 1st because a teammates knee blew out. If not for the injury seems like they were willing to platoon Casas and Gonzalez so this isn’t completely premeditated. It’s an ask to make the team and the org better after a freak injury.
I don’t think he doesn’t have a right to be annoyed, but come on the Red Sox are committed to him they gave him the biggest contract in franchise history ensuring his family has generational wealth. That’s a pretty nice chip on their end that they have his back and now it’s the second time he’s publicly aired out stuff that could be pretty easily handled internally
Obviously a ton of nuance that no one knows about outside the locker room. Tough job Cora has smoothing this over because there’s gotta be some guys in the locker room not thrilled with the drama. Both sides for sure share blame it’s a tough spot

Devers is also fat and out of shape. Would have solved a lot of these problems if he took care of his body. Now you can say “they signed him to that deal, where’s the incentive to care of his body, etc”. True, but also well within their rights to pencil him in somewhere else if he can’t keep himself viable that position
