No he doesn't. Every year he gets really good evaluations and has called games in the CWS at least 3 times.

Got a few text from buddies and They posted it on face book earlier today ..

Yep, he's really a nice guy. I don't know how he puts up with all the abuse.....I guess the money is worth it. They do make way more than most people realize.

Takes a few years of doing high school and getting in with the collegiate crew in the area. The group based out of the NOLA area has 2 of the better college umps (Chapman and Guille) and one former AAA ump (wife made him quit due to all the travel). They have a young guy who is doing Minor league games (I think AA) who works early season college games and was very good.
Once conference games start, the ones who do SEC and ACC make almost $2000 for the 3 game set plus meal, travel, and hotel allowances. It's good money for 9-10 hours of work on the weekend if you can get to that level. Most of them either own a business or work in a job where they can travel whenever they need to.
When I quit coaching rec and travel ball a few years ago those guys were getting between $25-35 a game. You can pick up a pretty good check if you work travel tourneys. (Could pay for Latour dues in a weekend)
